FTOPS X Roundup: Nick 'agriffrod' Mitchell Takes $1.5M Guaranteed

FTOPS X Event #10: $300+22 Mixed Limit

More busy action in the tenth Full Tilt Online Poker Series kept players occupied even as the poker world was focused on the final showdown in the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas. FTOPS Event #10, one of two top wrap up on Monday night was a $300+22 mixed hold'em affair. It drew 667 participants, falling just short of its $250,000 guarantee and offering a small overlay to the players. Just missing out on the final table were Full Tilt red pro Christian Kruel in 12th ($2,375) and I Pay Ur Rent in 28th ($850). Chip counts to start the final table were as follows:

--DONKEY1965-- - 664,442
BACKDOORHITTER - 376,333
tysonm - 205,542
Don_Timon - 162,981
AllAboutHonour - 154,826
MrMudd76 - 153,926
roundhouse22 - 114,371
swd805 - 97,200
Hooligan Sponge - 71,379

The first to bid adieu was roundhouse22. With blinds and antes 3,000/6,000/1,000 in no-limit, BACKDOORHITTER made it 18,000 to play from middle position and roundhouse22 raised from the big blind to 54,000. BACKDOORHITTER responded by shoving and roundhouse22 called all in with (Q-Clubs)(Q-Diamonds), leading BACKDOORHITTER's (6-Spades)(6-Diamonds). The board though rolled out (4-Spades)(6-Hearts)(3-Spades)(8-Hearts)(2-Hearts) and busted roundhouse22 in the chops for a ninth-place finish worth $4,250. AllAboutHonour was the next to go during the limit round at 16,000/32,000 after three-betting --DONKEY1965-- from the button. A call and a flop of (6-Hearts)(6-Clubs)(3-Clubs) saw betting capped, followed by a (5-Spades) turn. The chips were all in and AllAboutHonour's (Q-Diamonds)(Q-Hearts) trailed --DONKEY1965--'s (K-Hearts)(6-Spades). The river was a blank and AllAboutHonour busted in eighth for $5,850.

Later that level, --DONKEY1965-- took out another opponent who again held a big pair. Three-bets preflop brought out an (8-Clubs)(8-Hearts)(J-Hearts) flop where tysonm and --DONKEY1965-- went max bets. The (8-Spades) turn was when tysonm was set all-in, and the cards were revealed: (A-Clubs)(A-Spades) for tysonm and (J-Clubs)(10-Spades) for --DONKEY1965--. The river was amazingly the (J-Diamonds) and knocked out tysonm in seventh for $7,500. In the next hand, --DONKEY1965--'s (8-Spades)(8-Clubs) held up against Don_Timon's (A-Clubs)(4-Clubs), who finished sixth for $11,250. Back at no-limit with blinds and antes of 5,000/10,000/1,500, swd805 moved all in under the gun for 66,867 with (Q-Diamonds)(9-Hearts), but ran into --DONKEY1965--'s (A-Spades)(A-Clubs) and could not find a miracle, finishing fifth for $15,625. The dominance continued for --DONKEY1965-- as a few hands later, BACHDOORHITTER moved all in from the button for 245,303 with (7-Diamonds)(6-Diamonds), but ran into the chip leader's (A-Diamonds)(K-Clubs). Both an ace and king hit the flop which would be enough to win the hand. BACKDOORHITTER took $20,625 for fourth. It was more of the same as --DONKEY1965 busted Hooligan Sponge when his (K-Clubs)(J-Diamonds) held against (Q-Hearts)(10-Diamonds). The board came (6-Diamonds)(8-Diamonds)(6-Spades)(7-Clubs)(3-Hearts) and Hooligan Sponge went out in third for $26,875.

Heads-up play began with these chip counts:

--DONKEY1965-- - 1,563,870
MrMudd76 - 437,130

The battle lasted for a good stretch, with MrMudd76 grabbing hold of the chip lead and eventually winning the event. At the 8,000/16,000/2,000 level of no limit, MrMudd76 held nearly a 4-to-1 chip lead and the match on a limped pot. The flop came (A-Clubs)(Q-Clubs)(8-Hearts) and --DONKEY1965-- led out for 36,000. MrMudd76 pushed all in with (8-Clubs)(5-Clubs) and the big stack. --DONKEY1965-- called with (A-Hearts)(4-Spades), but was unable to dodge all of the necessary outs as the (8-Spades) fell on the river sending --DONKEY--1965 out as runner-up for $36,250. MrMudd76 claimed the honors and $57,500 in Event #10.

Final Results:

1. MrMudd76 - $57,500
2. --DONEY1965-- - $36,250
3. Hooligan Sponge - $26,875
4. BACKDOORHITTER - $20,625
5. swd805 - $15,625
6. Don_Timon - $11,250
7. tysonm - $7,500
8. AllAboutHonour - $5,850
9. roundhouse22 - $4,250

FTOPS X Event #11: $1,000+60 NLHE

FTOPS Event #11 featured the biggest buy-in of the series thus far. The $1,000+60 affair lured 1,469 entrants but, like Event #10, fell just short on its $1,500,000 guarantee. Among the best finishes outside of the final table were Roy Winston in 22nd place ($4,950) and Marco "CrazyMarco" Johnson in 28th ($4,200). Chip counts to start the final table were as follows:

Nick "agriffrod" Mitchell - 2,978,338
RHINOWNED - 1,355,428
daCav04 - 874,490
Misconduct44 - 661,802
Kupokupo - 481,378
Jagz7 - 383,307
MlapSnarf - 360,699
Schoitl - 166,689
coronel - 82,869

Out first from the final was Jagz7 at the 12,000/24,000/3,000 level. Under the gun, Jagz7 raised it up to 60,777 and was faced with a reraise by Nick "agriffrod" Mitchell from middle position. Jagz7 moved all in and Mitchell called. It was (J-Hearts)(J-Clubs) for Jagz7 while Mitchell held (A-Hearts)(Q-Clubs). The board came (2-Clubs)(8-Spades)(7-Hearts)(A-Diamonds)(10-Diamonds) as the turn doomed Jagz7, who finished ninth for $21,000. Misconduct44 was done for the night after a hand with RHINOWNED at 14,000/28,000/3,500. From middle position Misconduct44 shoved for 264,613 with (Q-Hearts)(9-Hearts) and found action from RHINOWNED with (A-Clubs)(7-Diamonds). They each hit the (8-Hearts)(9-Diamonds)(A-Spades) flop, but Misconduct44 would improve no further, finishing eighth for $30,000. Schoitl finished seventh after pushing all in from the button 186,878 with (A-Clubs)(2-Clubs) but running into Mitchell's (J-Spades)(J-Clubs). The board ran out (Q-Spades)(8-Hearts)(2-Hearts)(7-Spades)(7-Diamonds) and Schoitl was done, receiving $42,000. Nick Mitchell then eliminated another opponent, this time Kupokupo. Mitchell's (4-Diamonds)(4-Spades) held against the short-stacked Kupokupo's (A-Diamonds)(K-Diamonds), taking home $64,500 for sixth.

Coronel was the next to hit the rail when the blinds and antes were at 17,000/34,000/4,000. From the small blind, coronel moved all in for 233,856 with (Q-Hearts)(J-Hearts) and was called by Mitchell from the big blind with (A-Spades)(2-Clubs). The board rolled out (9-Clubs)(A-Diamonds)(Q-Diamonds)(7-Diamonds)(2-Spades), eliminating coronel in fifth for $90,000. Fourth place was determined a few hands later at 20,000/40,000/5,000. RHINOWNED raised on the button to 100,012, and from the big blind daCav04 moved all in with (K-Clubs)(6-Hearts) hoping to take the pot down. However, RHINOWNED called and turned up (A-Diamonds)(10-Diamonds). The board came (5-Hearts)(4-Spades)(9-Spades)(J-Clubs)(J-Diamonds) and sent daCav04 home with a $120,000 payday.

Three-handed play ended when MlapSnarf was eliminated in cruel fashion at the 30,000/60,000/7,500 level. Nick "agriffrod" Mitchell raised to 170,170 from the small blind and MlapSnarf popped it up to 425,000. Mitchell then thought for a moment before moving his big stack all in. MlapSnarf tanked and made the call with (A-Clubs)(Q-Clubs), facing Mitchell's (A-Hearts)(Q-Spades). When the flop came (8-Hearts)(4-Hearts)(7-Hearts), Mitchell was freerolling for the flush and the win. The (8-Diamonds) on the turn didn't do it, but the (Q-Hearts) river did, busting MlapSnarf in third place for $151,500.

Heads-up play started with Mitchell holding 5,242,969 in chips to RHINOWNED's 2,102,031. The battle last a few hands before Nick "agriffrod" Mitchell hit a timely two-outer to win the event. A raising war preflop led to RHINOWNED's tournament life at risk with (9-Spades)(9-Clubs) against Nick Mitchell's (5-Hearts)(5-Spades). The flop was an uneventful (7-Hearts)(Q-Diamonds)(4-Spades), but the (5-Diamonds) fell on the turn and put Mitchell in the lead. The (Q-Clubs) river card ended the tournament as RHINOWNED finished as the runner-up for $204,000, making the winner of Event #11, for $322,500, Nick "agriffrod" Mitchell.

Final Results:

1. Nick "agriffrod" Mitchell - $322,500
2. RHINOWNED - $204,000
3. MlapSnarf - $151,500
4. daCav04 - $120,000
5. coronel - $90,000
6. Kupokupo - $64,500
7. Schoitl - $42,000
8. Misconduct44 - $30,000
9. Jagz7 - $21,000
