2012 Aussie Millions Day 13: Big Guns Out for Day 1c; Breadsell Wins Chinese Poker Event
The 2012 Aussie Millions Poker Championship continued on Tuesday with Day 1c of the AUD$10,000 Main Event. It drew an absolutely stacked field that included Erik Seidel, Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier, and Tony G, just to name a few.
Here’s a look at the action from Day 13 of the 2012 Aussie Millions Poker Championship:
Event #8: $10,000 Main Event Day 1c
Day 1c of the 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event finished up on Tuesday night in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. After seven levels of play and plenty of magnificent poker action, the field of 317 who came out for the final starting flight was cut to under 150. Leading the way after bagging up 198,400 in chips was Robert Lam.
With most of the big guns waiting until the final starting day to get in on the action, Phil Ivey, Jason Mercier, Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem, Erik Seidel, Nam Le and Daniel Alaei were all in play. Ivey stormed out of the gate to an early chip lead and held his position for the better part of the day.
Once he got into six figures, Ivey peaked at around 175,000 before he began to bleed chips and drop back to about 85,000. From there, Ivey doubled in a massive clash with Shane Warne and got right back to the top of the board. He went on to finish in fourth on the Day 1c leaderboard with 184,000 in chips.
While Ivey thrived, Hachem, Alaei, Negreanu, Seidel and Le were all eliminated on the day and won't be going any further in the Main Event. Mercier had a rough day hanging around or below the starting stack of 30,000 for most of the time, but managed to win a good number of chips with a diamond flush against Dan Smith before going on to finish with 61,600.
Other notables who bagged up some decent stacks on Day 1c were Jason Koon, Michael Pedley, David Steicke, Melanie Weisner and Tino Lechich. They'll all be back in Crown Casino's poker room on Wednesday starting at 1230 AEST (1730 PST Tuesday) to continue the quest. Registration will remain open until the first break on Day 2, so even more players have the chance of hopping into the event. As it stands right now, the plan is to play six two-hour levels, but that is subject to change.
A few of the notable bustouts on the day included Mike Watson, Tony Bloom, Sorel Mizzi, Victor Ramdin and Chris Moorman.
Leading the way with the overall chip lead into Day 2 is Brett Watson. He bagged up 257,400 on Day 1a.
Event #11: $550 NLHE
The cost for the Main Event and $100,000 Challenge may prove too pricey for some, but the folks at the Crown have put some more affordable options on the schedule. One such tournament was Event #11: $550 No-Limit Hold'em, which took place on Monday and was capped at 170 players. Peter Costa, the 2003 Aussie Millions champ, was in the field and looking to capture part of the $85,000 prize pool. Of that, $19,130 was reserved for first, while the remainder of the top 18 were guaranteed at least $1,060.
Costa wasn’t able to make the money, but some familiar names like Tony Delavinias and Chris Ozer did. Here is a look at that event’s final table:

Event #12: $5,000 Chinese Poker
Event #12: $5,000 Chinese Poker, kicked off on Monday. The event drew 25 players who were seated five to a table, with the button sitting out each deal. Quite a number of notables entered the event including Barry Greenstein, Daniel Cates, Jason Gray, Jeffrey Lisandro, Sam Trickett, Eric Crain, Terrence Chan, Gary Benson, Sam Khouiss, Florian Langman, Ivan Tan, Bernard Beh, Graeme Putt, Mike Watson, and Sebastian Ruthenberg.
The event was a welcome addition to the Aussie Millions schedule, and it seemed most of the participants enjoyed themselves.
