PokerStars Wins 2014 Poker Operator and Mobile Poker Operator of The Year Honors

PokerStars Wins 2014 Poker Operator and Mobile Poker Operator of The Year Titles

The 10th edition of the eGaming Review Operator Awards, one of the industry's most prestigious events, awarded PokerStars with the titles of Poker Operator of the Year and Mobile Operator of the Year.

During the official ceremony, which was held in London on Monday, over 800 of gaming's leading decision makers and executives met to reward excellency in gaming and reward those who have contributed the most to the growth and development of the industry.

"We are very proud to be acknowledged by eGR and the expert judging panel for our success as the leading online poker operator online and on mobile ," said Eric Hollreiser, Head of Corporate Communications for the Rational Group.

"Competition in our industry is always fierce and we are proud to be recognized by our peers for delivering an outstanding product and service to millions of players."

Home to more than 69 million registered players, PokerStars managed to build its success with a product that is believed to offer the widest variety of games, the best tournament series, the biggest prize pools and the most platforms to play them on.

"Our customers are among the most loyal, passionate and skillful poker players in the world," Hollreiser continued. "We are constantly evolving to anticipate their needs. We’re particularly proud to be able to offer the best mobile poker experience and give consumers safe and convenient access to all the features, games and global player pools that they expect from PokerStars."

According to a note sent to the media by PokerStars, the room's attention toward the innovation of its products and services is also to be seen as one of the crucial factors that made the Operator of the Year award possible.

Although most of the media attention went to the monster deal that allowed Amaya Gaming to buy PokerStars and its sister room Full Tilt, 2014 has been a very distinctive year for the world's biggest poker room thanks to the launch of its innovative PokerStars 7 client, the success of its mobile platform and the introduction of the Spin&Go, the lottery-style sit-and-go's that – despite the criticism of many – were played 7.3 million times within the first 10 days of the launch.

Commenting on the title of 2014 Mobile Operator of the Year, PokerStars explained that the room's mobile offerings "have been central to the continued growth of PokerStars, especially in making the poker industry accessible to new players."

"Changes in player behavior have seen significant growth in the adoption of the mobile platform," the room said in a statement. "A majority of PokerStars accounts are now created on mobile devices, with a larger majority in more mature markets."

"An increasing number of players choose to play across both mobile and desktop products, while a healthy number opts to play exclusively on PokerStars Mobile," the statement continued.

2014 eGR Awards: All the Winners

Despite the powerful combo scored by PokerStars, the Isle of Man-based poker room has not been the only gaming company left with reasons to celebrate after last Monday's ceremony.

As usual, the eGR Gaming Awards have awarded a large number of important prizes that went from the Operator of the Year (William Hill), to a special mention for the Outstanding Contribution to the development of the industry that was given to Paddy Power Chief Executive Officer Patrick Kennedy.
