The most expensive tournament of the 2021 GGPoker WSOP Online Bracelet Events has come to a conclusion and a new first-time bracelet winner has been crowned. Greek poker pro Alexandros Theologis defeated Kahle Burns in a short-lived and one-sided heads-up duel in Event #21 $25,000 Super High Roller Championship to claim the lion's share of the $6,247,500 prize pool. The tournament drew a total of 255 entries to breeze past the $5 million guarantee and the top 30 spots were paid.

For Theologis, it was redemption for the runner-up finish in Event #55: HK$8,000 No Limit Hold'em Asia Championship during the 2020 GGPoker WSOP Online Bracelet Events. Prior to his victory, he had cashed in WSOP Events 15 times but none of the scores came close to the massive top prize of $1,212,033. Runner-up Burns narrowly missed out on his third career bracelet but the consolation prize of $934,604 will certainly soothe the pain in a day or two.

GGPoker Team Russia member Anatoly Filatov finished in fourth place right ahead of two-time WSOP bracelet winner Mark Radoja. The hopes of Adrian Mateos to claim a fourth bracelet ended early on as the Spaniard was eliminated in 8th place.

Theologis entered the final table third in chips, trailing only eventual third-place finisher Wenjie "Jerome001" Huang and Burns. The first hour already shook up the leaderboard significantly as four players were sent to the rail. Timothy Nuter was the first to succumb to his short stack and Adrian Mateos followed next when his ace-ten suited ended up second-best against the queens of Theologis. Eduardo "srjtdyfgukh" Silva followed shortly after and Theologis held a narrow lead over Huang on the first break.

Anatoly Filatov had gained some early momentum with a double-up through Burns and then knocked out Mark Radoja in fifth place, instantly flopping the nut flush to end the hopes of the Canadian for a repeat victory. Huang was left short while Theologis established a commanding lead over his final three opponents. One after the other sent their chips to the Greek, who made the most of his major chip advantage.

First to fall was Filatov as the shortest stack and Huang followed right after when his dominated pair found no help. Theologis entered heads-up with a lead of more than 6-1 over Burns. Even though the Aussie "deserved one double to make it interesting" according to the table chat, there was no miracle comeback and Theologis prevailed in under two hours.

That concludes the PokerNews updates for this event but the 2021 GGPoker WSOP Online Bracelet Events continue until September 12, 2021.

Theologis Extends Lead

Level 38 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

Alexandros Theologis limped and then called when Kahle Burns raised to 528,000. The flop was {q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Theologis called a 224,000 lead from Burns.

Both players checked the {7-Spades} turn, and after Burns checked the {3-Hearts} river, Theologis put all his chips in to put Burns at risk. Burns folded and Theologis took the pot, further extending his chip lead and attempt to close in on the title.

Level 37 : 70,000/140,000, 17,500 ante

During the first seven hands of heads-up, Alexandros Theologis raked in the pot five times and pulled further ahead.

Three-handed play lasted for around half a dozen hands, most of which Alexandros Theologis scooped to further extend his lead. He then made it 490,000 to go in the small blind and Wenjie "Jerome001" Huang ripped it in for just shy of 5 million from the big blind. Theologis called instantly and turned over the superior pocket pair in the showdown.

Wenjie "Jerome001" Huang: {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}
Alexandros Theologis: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

The {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop left Huang with just one out and he found no miracle on the {j-Diamonds} turn and {j-Hearts} river. Huang bowed out in third place for a massive payday of $720,679.

Huang Doubles Thanks to River Flush

Level 37 : 70,000/140,000, 17,500 ante
Huang doubles through Filatov
Huang doubles through Filatov

Anatoly Filatov opened to 280,000 on the button and Wenjie "Jerome001" Huang defended from the big blind. The {5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} came on board and proved to be an action flop as Huang check-raised a 175,000 bet up to 700,000, which led to an all in shove by Filatov. Huang called off for his last 1,698,247 chips and was the one at risk.

Wenjie "Jerome001" Huang: {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Anatoly Filatov: {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

Filatov was ahead with top pair but Huang had both flush draws and a gutshot straight draw. The turn was the {10-Clubs}, leaving Huang looking for help on the river, and he did indeed find it as the {7-Diamonds} peeled off on the river keeping Huang alive and decimating Filatov's stack.
