2007 World Series of Poker

Event 28 - $3,000 No Limit Holdem

Hand #148 - Shankar Pillai Wins Event #28 ($527,829)

Hand #148 - Shankar Pillai has the button, he raises to 180,000, Shak reraises to 735,000, and Pillai calls. The flop comes {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, Shak moves all in for 1,575,000, and Pillai thinks for about four minutes before he quietly says, "I call."

The once-silent crowd explodes in the excitement of an all-in situation. Shak shows {K-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for a pair of eights, king kicker. But Pillai shows {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a pair of eights, *ace* kicker. Shak needs to improve to stay alive.

The turn card is the {7-Spades}, and only a king can save Shak now.

The river card is the {2-Clubs}, and Shankar Pillai wins the pot -- and the bracelet -- with a pair of eights with an ace kicker.

Beth Shak is eliminated in second place, earning $328,683.

Shankar Pillai wins Event #28 ($3,000 No-Limit Hold'em), earning $527,829, a Corum watch, and a coveted WSOP bracelet.
