Action in this final will get underway at 4pm from the Amazon Room.

Farzad Rouhani Leads the Final Eight

Owing to the late night, tomorrow's start has been pushed back an hour -- we'll be back at 4pm PDT for the final of the $2,500 Omaha/Seven-Card Stud Eight or Better.

Farzad Rouhani: 500,000
Greg Pappas: 304,000
"Miami" John Cernuto: 285,000
Tom Chambers: 235,000
Michael Mizrachi: 231,000
John Racener: 181,000
Daniel Mowczan: 122,000
Yueqi "Rich" Zhu: 87,000

Brandon Cantu Eliminated in Ninth Place

Omaha-8:

After a mammoth final table bubble, a super-short Brandon Cantu raised and John Cernuto called.

"What do I need to come down?" he sighed. "Probably lots of tens and jacks."

"Or that," said Pappas, as the flop came down {5-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {4-Clubs}. "Let's see that ace-deuce."

Close, but no cigar.

Cantu: {A-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}
Cernuto: {6-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {3-Spades}

Turn: {5-Diamonds}
River: {7-Hearts}

And we are down to eight.

Mowczan Continues to Hang On

Stud-8:

Daniel Mowczan has survived another all-in, this time making an eight-high straight to beat Brandon Cantu's two pair.

Waiting for Hands

There has been, as one could have reasonably predicted, a lull in the action, with our remaining nine hesitant to get their chips in now that the final table is so tantalizingly close. However, the blinds are large, the short stacks short, and the hour late. Something has got to give sooner or later.

Tad Jurgens Eliminated in 10th Place

Omaha-8:

Tad Jurgens moved in preflop for less than a full raise; Pappas and Zhu both called from the button and big blind respectively and then checked it down all the way.

Jurgens: {K-?} {3-?} {9-?} {K-?}
Pappas: {8-?} {7-?} {2-?} {3-?}
Zhu: {6-?} {8-?} {10-?} {J-?}

Board: {3-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {8-Spades}

Jurgens is no more, and we are down to nine.

Cantu and Pappas Clash Again

Omaha-8:

Greg Pappas is up to 320,000 after calling down Brandon Cantu on ever street of a {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Spades}{Q-Clubs} board before showing {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for two pair, aces and queens. Cantu mucked.

These two have gone into battle so many times that you just sense one is going to knock out the other at some point. At the moment, however, it is Pappas who boasts the upper hand.
