The End of Play for Day 1

After a day's play of epic proportions we have somehow gotten down to 46 players from 759. That works out to more than 70 players per level!

This is pot-limit Omaha ladies and gentlemen. It's a gamblers' game where you can nearly always find a reason to stay and see the next card out. We return tomorrow at 2pm Pacific time when we will play down to our final table of nine players. It should be a short day but you never really know when the stacks get deeper compared to the blinds. It's good night from the Amazon room, we're off to catch our breaths.

More Eliminations

Jeffery Higgins was just eliminated when he went all in with J-Q-10-7 single-suited versus an opponent's A-A-8-3 single-suited. An ace flopped, and Higgins couldn't make a straight or flush to overcome his opponent.

Crane Ward has just knocked out Gerhard Schieber.

And Eric Rosenman has bounced Leroy Baca.

We've got about 10 minutes to go before the end of Level 10 and the conclusion of Day 1.

"Nice Bet"

Jesper Taking a Hit

It's folded around to Jesper Hougaard on the button who makes it 3,200 to play. Tony Phillips quickly makes it 10,600 from the small blind. Hougaard asks Phillips what he has behind and when he hears it's 81,000 he makes the call.

The flop comes {Q-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} before Tony leads out for 16,500. Hougaard plays with his chps before raising it up to 33,100. Instantly Phillips moves all in and just as quick Jesper folds adding, "Nice bet," to his opponent. Phillips responds with, "That's how we play Omaha in England!"

Tony Phillips up to over 130,000 now.
Jesper Hougaard down to around 70,000.

In a Gambling Mood

Phil Reed raised pot to 3,500 from the cutoff, Max Pescatori called from the button, the small blind called, then Sean Patrick shoved the rest of his chips -- 9,300 -- from the small blind. Reed re-potted it, and the others got out of the way.

Patrick: {5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Reed: {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

"I just was ready to gamble," shrugged Patrick. The board ran out {3-Spades}{A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, and Patrick is out.

Reed is now up to 86,000.
