Day 2 Completed

End of Day 2

Kyle Kloeckner, chip leader heading into Event No. 34 final table
It took over ten hours for 48 players to work their way down to the final nine in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha with Rebuys event. After several short stacks dropped out quickly early on, action slowed until the cash bubble finally burst.

Clonie Gowen, Rene Mouritsen, Barny Boatman, Erik Seidel, and Jerrod Ankenman were among those who made it to the money. When Francisco Azares went out in 13th, Layne Flack celebrated, noting that thanks to all of his rebuys earlier, he needed to crack the top twelve in order to realize a profit.

Nathan Hagens and Michael Schwartz soon followed Azares, and the remaining ten players gathered around a single table here in the back of the Brasilia room to determine who among them would not be coming back tomorrow.

When that ten-handed table began, Tim "Tmay420" West was the short stack. He battled gamely, though, and still had chips when Kevin O'Donnell got knocked out by Ted Forrest.

Come back tomorrow at 2pm Vegas time to see who among West, Forrest, Flack, and the others emerge as our next WSOP bracelet winner.

Kevin O'Donnell Eliminated in 10th Place ($36,106)

Kevin O'Donnell
Kevin O'Donnell
Kevin O'Donnell limped in from mid-position into the blind of Ted Forrest, who checked.

The flop came {8-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {6-Spades}.

Forrest checked to the short-stacked O'Donnell who bet the pot. Forrest then slid in a big reraise before O'Donnell moved all in.

Forrest didn't like it one bit but knew he had committed himself to the pot and made the call.

O'Donnell showed {7-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {2-Spades} for the nut straight. Forrest showed {4-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {8-Spades} for two pair.

The turn came {8-Clubs} to make the full house for Forrest!

O'Donnell is eliminated as our final table bubble boy. The rest get to go home and rest up for the race to the bracelet tomorrow.

West Battling for His Life

Tim West is the short stack at the table and needs to hang in there and get chips somehow to make the official final table. He just check-raised Ted Forrest off a pot at the turn stage after a third club had been dealt.

He's still comparatively low to most so he's not there yet.

And Then There Were Ten

Seat 1 - Frank Vizza (470,000)
Seat 2 - Dario Alioto (515,000)
Seat 3 - Tim West (125,000)
Seat 4 - Daniel Makowsky (523,000)
Seat 5 - Kevin O'Donnell (310,000)
Seat 6 - Kyle Kloeckner (850,000)
Seat 7 - Jacobo Fernandez (360,000)
Seat 8 - Layne Flack (460,000)
Seat 9 - Michael Guzzardi (850,000)
Seat 10 - Ted Forrest (480,000)

Michael Schwartz Eliminated in 11th Place ($36,106)

Michael Schwartz
Michael Schwartz
Michael Schwartz had just survived an anxiety-filled hand when Ted Forrest decided to fold rather than look him up. (Later Schwartz said to Forrest, "Stop reading me like a book!") Schwartz was at 125,000 after that hand.

On the next hand, Schwartz limped from the small blind and Frank Vizza called from the big blind. The flop came {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. Schwartz bet 20,000 and Vizza called. The turn was the {10-Spades} and Schwartz quickly bet pot -- 64,000 -- leaving himself only about 30,000 behind. Vizza thought a moment, then raised to put Schwartz all in. Schwartz called.

Schwartz showed {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades} for top pair and a flush draw. Vizza showed {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{J-Spades}{6-Diamonds} for queens and sixes. The river didn't help Schwartz, and he's out. Vizza is back up to 420,000.

They are redrawing for the final ten-handed table. One more elimination and we're done for the night.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Kevin O'Donnell"

The board was out and read {10-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds}.

Michael Guzzardi bet the pot into Kevin O'Donnell and he flat-called.

Guzzardi showed {A-Hearts} {10-Spades} {K-Spades} {2-Hearts} for a rivered full house.
O'Donnell showed {Q-Hearts} {9-Spades} {10-Hearts} {3-Hearts} for a turned full house, that ultimately became the smaller full house.

Kevin O'Donnell only lost 75,000 in that pot where he thought he should've gone broke, and he jumped up and clapped his hands together in celebration.

Layne Flack commented, "I've never seen a guy so happy to lose 75,000 in pot before. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Kevin O'Donnell."

Eyeing the Short Stacks

Layne Flack just took a chunk of Tim "Tmay420" West's chips, and now West is on the short stack along with Michael Schwartz.

West is down to 160,000, while Flack has bounced up to 450,000.
