Morry Edelstein Eliminated

Preflop, Morry Edelstein shipped his final 18,500 into the middle preflop. Action folded to Cliff Lee in late position who went into the tank.

"I can come back tomorrow as the short-stack" Lee pondered out loud. "Or I can gamble" he added.

After a solid three minutes more in the tank Lee finally tired of it and said "Ok lets gamble".

He made the call and the other players folded.

Lee tabled {A-Clubs}{q-Hearts} against Edelstein's {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}.

The gamble was a good one the flop spiked {6-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} to put Lee out in front. The board completed {k-Clubs} turn and {2-Clubs} river to make Lee an ace high flush.

He moves up to 48,500, while Edelstein moves out the door.

Botta Eliminated

Botta all out.
Botta all out.
Daniel Botta has been amongst the latest to be sent to the rail, not before being crippled in a big hand with Aleks "Banana Thief" Brkovic.

On a flop reading {K-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}, Botta check-called Brkovic's 2,500 bet. The turn bought the {2-Spades} and both opponents checked their option.

The river bought a {Q-Hearts} and Botta shipped all in only to be snap-called by Brkovic as he tabled {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

Botta threw his hands in the air and mucked his cards, sending Brkovic's stack to 40,000 while he was left with just over 1,500. He was eliminated a few hands later.

Bernard on Hard Times

James Bernard is back to the grind
James Bernard is back to the grind
PokerNews' own James Bernard has lost some of his stack to Morry Edelstein in a big hand.

Morry opened from the button for 4,000 with Bernard calling from the small blind.

The flop bought {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Bernard checked, Edelstein moved all in and Bernard called.

Bernard saw the bad news as Edelstein tabled {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} leaving him drawing to only two outs with {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. The turn and river missed Bernard as they fell {K-Diamonds}, {3-Spades}.

Bernard's stack is now down to 38,000 while Edelstein's has risen to 36,000.

Donged

Karamalikis got the chips and a good spray for his efforts
Karamalikis got the chips and a good spray for his efforts
Preflop, Trevor McCarthy open-raised from the cutoff and Jonathan Karamalikis popped it to 7,000. McCarthy thought for a little bit before making the call.

The flop came {6-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Karamalikis asked the dealer to count off his McCarthy's stack. The dealer counted the stack as 34,000. Karamalikis then checked to McCarthy who fired out a bet of 15,000.

Karamalikis picked up a stack of 100,000 in yellow chips and placed it out as his bet, setting McCarthy all in. McCarthy went into the tank before making the call.

Karamalikis tabled {9-Spades}{6-Spades} and McCarthy rolled over {A-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. His lead wouldn't last long as the {6-Clubs} spiked the turn. This set McCarthy into a rage "expletive expletive, I knew you we're making a move, you're an expletive luckbox". He then slammed his chewing gum and cigarette packet onto the table.

The river {9-Hearts} only further fueled his rage, making Karamalikis a full house. McCarthy stood at the table for a further minute talking trash at Karamalikis before departing for the rail.

Karamalikis is smiling all the way to the bank at 205,000.

Topakas Crippled

Steve Topakas
Steve Topakas
Tough days for Steve "Big Show" Topakas as his stack drops down to 8,500.

An opponent made it 3,000 to go from the hijack position. Another re-raised all in from the small blind as did Topakas from the big blind. The original raiser folded and we were at showdown.

Topakas tabled {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} against his opponent's {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} for a classic race.

The board bought a crushing {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} giving his opponent the nut flush and Topakas with a bad taste in his mouth.

Guzzardi Doubles Through King Karl

Michael Guzzardi
Michael Guzzardi
With a limp in front, Karl Krautschneider popped it to 4,500 before Michael Guzzardi moved all in for another 8,500 from the big blind. The limper folded as Krautschneider made the call.

Krautschneider: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Guzzardi: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

The board ran out {4-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and Guzzardi spikes his ace to survive and double to 30,000. Krautschneider falls to 31,500.
