Maxim Lykov

Sun Aug 23 2009

Winner of €5,000 EPT Kyiv Main Event

The first-ever PokerStars.net EPT Kyiv drew 296 runners from 33 countries across the globe. At the end of nearly a week of intense action on the felt, Russia's Maxim Lykov outlasted everyone who came against him to earn the championship along with the glass trophy and €330,000 in cash. Lykov was up and down at the final table, but in the end, his relentless aggression proved to be too much for his fellow competitors. After more than eight hours of play, he would finish off the crowd favorite, Ukraine's own Alexander Dovzhenko in a short and decisive heads-up battle to claim the title.
