Vakilis Eliminated, Selbst Advances to Day 2!

Selbst (during Main Event): advances to Day 2
Quarter Final

Vanessa Selbst limped in from the button before the flop before Sam Vakilis raised to 900 from the big blind. Selbst called and the dealer spread a flop that read {4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

Vakilis led out for 1,000, Selbst raised to 6,000, Vakilis shoved all in and Selbst snap-called.

Vakilis: {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Selbst: {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

The turn of the {3-Hearts} improved Vakilis' hand to two pair, but Selbst caught lightning in a bottle when the {2-Spades} spiked on the river for the wheel!

Game, set and match, Selbst, two games to one! Lock this day away, people!

Vakili Doubles Up

Quarter Final

Sam Vakili raised to 400 preflop, only to see Vanessa Selbst reraise to 4,200, which was enough to put Vakili all in.

Vakili went into the tank for about three minutes, but eventually made a crying call for 3,675, tabling {q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}, ahead of Selbst's {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

The board was spread {4-Spades}{5-Spades}{a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} to see Vakili double up and we still have a game on our hands!

Vakili Falls Behind

Quarter Final

Sam Vakili and Vanessa Selbst checked the flop of {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs} before the dealer produced the {9-Clubs} on the turn, where Vakili led out for 525.

Selbst raised to 2,025, Vakili reraised to 4,025 and Selbst called to see the river {7-Clubs}.

Vakili checked again and Selbst fired out 3,900, leaving only 625 behind. Vakili looked over at Selbst and eventually tapped the table, flashing the {q-Clubs} before sending his hand into the muck.

Sam Vakili: 1 vs. Vanessa Selbst: 1

Quarter Final

On a flop that read {6-Clubs}{2-Spades}{q-Diamonds}, Sam Vakili led out for 400 to Vanessa Selbst who called from the button.

Vakili then checked the turn of the {6-Diamonds}; Selbst led out for 1,125, Vakili reraised all in for around 3,300 and Selbst snap-called.

Vakili: {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Selbst: {10-Spades}{6-Spades}

The river {2-Hearts} improved Selbst to a full house and it's now tied at one game apiece.

Vakili Drops Another Pot

Quarter Final

Vanessa Selbst limped in from the button and Sam Vakili checked his option to see a flop of {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{q-Spades}, which both players checked.

Vakili fired out a bet of 300 on the turn of the {k-Hearts}, Selbst called and the dealer produced the {8-Diamonds} on the river.

Vakili attempted to lead for a bet of 800, but he used the "single-handed double-barrel" technique, which was ruled as a string bet by the dealer, so the first 300 in chips to hit the felt was taken as the bet.

Selbst called, Vakili flashed a {10-Diamonds}, clearly not interested in claiming the pot, particularly after Selbst revealed {q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}.

Selbst Takes a Pot Back

Quarter Final

Vanessa Selbst limped in preflop and Sam Vakili checked before the dealer produced the flop of {q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{j-Clubs}.

Vakili check-called Selbst's bet of 250, then check-raised to 1,650 after Selbst's bet of 650 on the turn of the {9-Clubs}.

Vakili then led out for 1,800 on the river {8-Diamonds}. Selbst made it 4,200, sending Vakili into the tank before eventually throwing his hand into the muck.

Sam Vakili: 1 vs. Vanessa Selbst: 0

Quarter Final

It didn't take long for Sam Vakili to take the first game in this match against Vanessa Selbst.

Vakili raised to 300 before the flop from the button, only to see Selbst reraise to 850. Vakili four-bet it to 3,050, Selbst moved all in and Vakili snap-called.

Vakili: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Selbst: {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Selbst overtook Vakili in a big way when the flop came down {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}, but the lead was taken back when Vakili spiked the {a-Diamonds} on the turn for the flush.

Down to either a king or a queen on the river, the {2-Clubs} bricked on the river - Vakili leads this game 1-0.
