End of Day 3

And on that cooler of a note, we have our last eight, Finland's Santeri Valikoski taking the chip lead into tomorrow's final table.

Seat 1: Peter Murphy -- 546,000
Seat 2: Ben Roberts -- 419,000
Seat 3: Edmund Sweeney -- 407,000
Seat 4: Santeri Valikoski -- 1,722,000
Seat 5: Rob Sherwood -- 497,000
Seat 6: Paul Carr -- 1,596,000
Seat 7: James Mitchell -- 1,155,000
Seat 8: Declan Connolly -- 735,000

It's been a long, yet hectic day, with more highs and lows than a mountain range, but after 13 hours of play, nine plucky survivors have gone that one bit closer to fulfilling their dream of becoming Irish Open Champion.

One man in particular, Rob Sherwood, is already going home with more booty than he could have imagined, the online pro from Manchester fending off numerous other online qualifiers to end the day as the last man standing, an achievement that sees an additional €100,000 drop into his back pocket.

Many congratulations to him, and all of this year's finalists. Join us again tomorrow at 2pm as we look to whittle eight down to one. Until then, stick a fork in me, I'm done.

Yann-ked From The Final Table

At least Dion's heart will go on.
At least Dion's heart will go on.
And we have a final!

Yann Dion raised to 43,000 and Paul Carr reraised to 175,000 from the blinds. Dion shoved and Carr instantly called, having the Canadian covered by about 100,000.

Dion: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades}
Carr: {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}

Board: {10-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {8-Spades}

And with that, we have our 2010 Irish Poker Open Final Table!

Seat 2: Yann Dion -- 775,000
Seat 3: Ben Roberts -- 465,000
Seat 4: Edmund Sweeney -- 405,000
Seat 5: Santeri Valikoski -- 1,525,000
Seat 6: Rob Sherwood -- 440,000
Seat 7: Paul Carr -- 765,000
Seat 8: James Mitchell -- 1,075,000

Richard Robinson Eliminated

Out of the blue, we had an all -in, Santeri Valikoski verbally pushing for 401,000 in the small blind, and Richard Robinson snapping him off in the big.

The beauty of having to wait for the cameras to arrive is that it gives you a valid reason to slowroll, so it took a while before we found that Valikoski had a monster.

Upon seeing {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} towering over his {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}, Robinson served up a horse noise, as if already knowing of his fate. His cynicism was justified as the board ran out {2-Hearts}{6-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

With Robinson's chances turning to dust, we are now down to the last (but not final) table. One more to go...

Valikoski Increases His Led

Declan Connolly raised to 45,000 from the button and Santeri Valikoski called in the big blind. On the {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, Valikoski check-called a bet of 53,000, before check-raising 115,000 to 300,000 on the {K-Hearts} turn. Connolly folded.

Sean Shorn..

We've lost Sean van Slujis who made a move with {Q-Spades} {2-Spades} on a {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {8-Spades} flop, but got called by Paul Carr's {A-Spades} {7-Diamonds}. A flush draw came on the turn with the {J-Spades} but the river was the {A-Hearts} and the Dutchman busts.

Outer Table Chip Counts

Seat 2: Edmund Sweeney -- 465,000
Seat 3: Declan Connolly -- 990,000
Seat 4: Yann Dion -- 795,000
Seat 5: Santeri Valikoski -- 1,115,000
Seat 7: Richard Robinson -- 360,000

Barry Donovan Busts. Rob Sherwood Wins Sole Survivor!

Barry Donovan was all-in preflop with {A-Spades} {K-Clubs} but walked slap-bang into Declan Connolly's {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} on a {3-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} board.

Connolly has almost 1 million now while Rob Sherwood wins the Sole Survivor contest and a bonus 100,000 euros as a result.
