Chip Leader Kim Gap Young

Day 2 of the PokerStars.net APPT Cebu Main Event returned to the Shangri-La Mactan Resort & Spa to see players jostle and jive for position with the money on the cards.

127 players returned to the felt today, and from the get-go, the action was fast and furious with players falling to the rail at a quick-rate. With a PHP 21,518,480 ($490,170) prizepool up for grabs, Team PokerStars Pros Raymond Wu, Bryan Huang, Joe Hachem and Tony Hachem, along with Sunshine Samson, Wally Sombrero, Michael Marvanek, Rennie Carnevale, Van Marcus, Tom Grigg and James Honeybone all fare-welling us throughout the day.

As the dust settled and the chips bagged and tagged, it would be Korean Kim Gap Young headlining the remaining thirty-five players with an impressive 393,600 in chips. His closest rivals - more than 160,000 behind - are Andrew Hinrichsen (230,200), Mikael Rozen (225,400) and Jukka Juvonen (198,900). Still in contention are Ivan Tan (159,600), Nathaneel Seet (134,600), Alexander Beeckx (122,700) and Daren Yoon (86,500).

Tomorrow we will be just a few eliminations shy of making the money, before the remaining twenty-eight players battle down until just nine remain, and the 2010 APPT Cebu Final Table is set!

Make sure to join the PokerNews Live Reporting Team from 12:15 pm PHT to see how will bluff, raise and craft their way to the final nine!

Cha Straightens Out Benasa

Mark Benasa opened to 5,000 only to have Yu Deug Cha move all in for 44,600 from the cutoff with Benasa making the call.

Benasa: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Cha: {A-Spades}{7-Clubs}

The {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{K-Clubs} flop put Benasa squarely in the lead, but when the {J-Hearts} and {Q-Diamonds} landed on the turn and river, Cha made a runner-runner Broadway straight to double to 95,000 as Benasa slips to 100,000 in chips.
