Wow, we've actually made it to a final table on Day 2, kind of. Ten players remain, which isn't an official final table, but we'll take it. That seems to be a rarity for the 2010 World Series of Poker as so many of the events seem to return for the final day of play with two or three tables left.
Today began at 2:30 p.m. with 109 players returning from the 476 that began the event. Joshua Honegger entered the day as the chip leader and would eventually fall in 25th place. Throughout the beginning of the day, bust outs occurred left and right steadily up until the dinner break. Once the dinner break ended and the players resumed, hand-for-hand play kicked and shortly thereafter Bob Lauria was eliminated as the bubble boy.
Plenty of notable players made the money including Matt Woodward (41st), Rep Porter (40th), Jonathan Tamayo (37th), Daniel Makowsky (36th), Joe Serock (28th), Shannon Shorr (17th) and Jeff Shulman (13th). Play finished up after ten levels of play and here's a list of the ten players who will be returning tomorrow afternoon to finish things out.
Seat 1: Matt Matros - 224,000
Seat 2: William Jensen - 326,000
Seat 3: Gary Bogdanski - 115,000
Seat 4: Eric Buchman - 453,000
Seat 5: Hansu Chu - 447,000
Seat 6: Flavio Ferrari - 373,000
Seat 7: Brent Courson - 240,000
Seat 8: Daniel Quach - 55,000
Seat 9: Steven Hustoft - 383,000
Seat 10: Matt Grapenthien - 254,000
Eric Buchman will enter the final day of play as the chip leader. Buchman has nearly $3.5 million in career tournament earnings and his most famed finish is a fourth place at last year's WSOP Main Event, earning him $2,502,890.
Although Buchman's one of the bigger names in the final ten, all eyes will be on Matt Matros. He comes into the last day eighth in chips, but will be looking to claim his second gold bracelet of the Series. Less than a week ago, Matros captured Event No. 12: $1,500 Limit Hold'em for $189,870.
Could it be two limit titles within a week's time? Will the former November Niner ride his chip lead to victory? Or will one of the other names storm to the top and claim the title? You'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out and you can bet that PokerNews will have all the action from the felt as we move towards a champion. We'll see you back here at 2:30 p.m., goodnight!
