Day 2 is Done

Drew Crawford - chip daddy
Drew Crawford - chip daddy

It's been a long day here in the Amazon Room - albeit one punctuated with amazingly frequent breaks - and so it is that we are left with just 41 of our 481 Day 2 starters.

Drew Crawford - who's been a big stack for most of the day - is our chip leader going into Day 3 on a commanding 800,000. However, there is a clutch of other players hot on his heels and it is anyone's game yet.

Everyone is now guaranteed $12,591, but there is a whole world of difference between that and the $625,872 that the eventual winner is going to take home.

Play will resume at 3pm tomorrow, and we will be playing right down to a final table. Until then, from the Amazon Room, it's goodnight.

Scott Gets Lucky with Tyner

We're not exactly sure how it came to this, but Robert "E-Dolo" Scott found himself involved in a pot with Nancy Todd Tyner. Tyner was all in. The chips went in preflop.

Tyner: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Scott: {q-Spades}{9-Clubs}

Board: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

That's right, the board made a flush, and with neither player holding a diamond they chopped it up.

"Oh YES," said Scott. "Someone take my picture, puh-lease."

Master of None

Not a Nguyenner this time
Not a Nguyenner this time

It folded around to Bart Davis in the small blind, who raised. In the big blind, Men "The Master" Nguyen went all in. Davis made the call, and it was a simple coinflip.

Davis: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Nguyen: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

Board: {2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs}

This tournament just got much, much quieter.

Sixes Hold for Tyner

Men Nguyen opened for 30,000, and then called the push for 53,000 total from Nancy Todd Tyner. On their backs, as it were.

Nguyen: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Tyner: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}

Board: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

Tyner's sixes held up, and she doubled to 120,000; Nguyen meanwhile dropped to 122,000.

A rather disappointed Eric Baldwin said he'd folded pocket nines, which would have made quads. Such is poker.

Double for Gargano

Anthony "Nick" Gargano just survived a race situation for his tournament life.

A player opened to 35,000 from under the gun and the action folded to Gargano in the big blind who moved all-in for 181,000. His opponent called with {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and Gargano opened {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

Off to the races again!

The flop fell {6-Spades}{Q-Spades}{K-Diamonds} giving Gargano the early lead. The {7-Spades} on the turn missed Gargano's opponent and so too did the {6-Diamonds} on the river.

After collecting his chips, Gargano's stack looks something like 380,000 chips.
