The first ten levels of Event #22- Pot-Limit Omaha are officially in the books! It’s been quite an exciting day of play today. We started with 1071 players today and somehow cut through the field rather quickly, managing to pop the money bubble right at the end of the night. That means 117 people will be returning tomorrow to vie for the gold WSOP bracelet and the $292,825.Towering above the rest of the field today is Cody Munger with 128,100 in chips. Other big stacks include Nick Binger (121,600) and Jeff Sarwer (90,900).

Today saw many players take their shot at the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha gold bracelet, only to fall short. Among today’s notable eliminations are Annette Obrestad, Shannon Shorr, Phil Hellmuth, Liv Boeree, Eric Froehlich, Jason Mercier, and last year’s champion of this event, Tex Barch.

That being said, many notables were also able to wade through the field today and progress on to Day 2 play. Among the notables that survived are Nick Binger, Ari Engel, Michael Binger, David Chiu, and Jeff Sarwer.

Join us tomorrow at 2:30 PST for our continuing coverage of Event #22- Pot-Limit Omaha.

Devilfish Bubbles

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 0 ante
Dave 'devilfish' Ulliott Bubbles Event #22
Dave 'devilfish' Ulliott Bubbles Event #22

After a player opened to 2,300, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, re-raised to 8,400. It folded back to the original aggressor and he tanked for a few minutes. Eventually, he moved all in and Ulliot, who had less with about 21,000 total, called.

Ulliot: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{9-Spades}

The flop was safe enough when it fell {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} but the {k-Clubs} on the turn made his opponent trips. Still with a heart draw and the final Ace to make a boat, the Devilfish bricked the {3-Spades} river and we have reached the money as well as our Day 2 field.

King Flops, Ace Turns

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

After a raise to 2,200, a player pushed all in for 6,500 and was called by the raiser.

After waiting a couple minutes for all other action to end, the flop was dealt {3-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and our all in player was in a world of hurt. However, the {a-Diamonds} eased his pain and left his opponent drawing to just the remaining king. The river bricked with the {5-Diamonds} and we play on.

Pop the Bubble!

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

With just a few minutes left on the clock and the board reading that 120 players remained, the tournament director announced all tables would play three more hands. Unless, however, we lost two players during those hands and hit our bubble. In which case, we would play hand for hand until we hit the money. Within the first minute of the three final hands, we lost two players and all further hands were stopped.

As such, the top 117 players will be paid and there are currently 118 still alive so we will play until we lose one more.

Eilers Gets Us Closer to the Money

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

We caught the action on a {4-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop, with a player facing a tough decision. He had bet the pot of 8,500 only to be re-potted by Benjamin Eilers, who was in position. Although he had a few more chips left behind him, he was effectively deciding about his tournament life with just a few to the money and a healthy stack still behind him.

Eventually he made the call with {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for top two pair and Eilers showed {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for a rap draw. The turn and river both got him there when it came {9-Hearts} and {k-Hearts}. The chips were counted out and Eilers just barely had his opponent covered. With the hand, Eilers has 80,000 and we are now just two from the money.

Akenhead Eliminated

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

From the button, Nick Binger raised to 3,000 and James Akenhead three-bet all in. Binger made the call and the hands were turned over.

Binger: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{8-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Akenhead: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The board fell {3-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{J-Spades} and Binger was able to send Akenhead to the rail. Binger is now up to around 100,000 in chips

"I Guess I Need An Eight..."

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

Nick Binger was recently involved in an interesting hand where he held {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. He managed to get his stack all in on a board of {k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}

His opponent's hand is unknown except for the fact that he was holding two kings for kings full of eights when the money went in.

"I guess I need an eight..." said Binger, only to see the {8-Clubs} drill the river. Binger's quads earned him a double up and he's currently sitting around 85,000.

Shortway Getting Shorter

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 0 ante

From early position, the first player into the pot made it 2,200 and received two callers behind him, including Rob Shortway, before the button raised to 10,400. The small blind folded and the big blind, Eddie Ochana, moved all in for 13,400. The initial raiser called, as did Shortway and the three-bettor.

The flop came {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and the first player with action left checked before Shortway bet 30,000. The player on the button tank-folded, as did the final player with action.

Shortway: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Ochana: {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and gave Ochana the flush. He still had to dodge a King or Queen, however, that would fill up Shortway. It bricked with the {5-Spades} and Ochana quadruples up to 55,000 as we near the bubble.
