Dion Leads The Final 12; Ivey Still In Contention
Yann Dion - Day 4 chip leader.
What started as 26 players has been dwindled down to just 12 here in the 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event. Day 4 action began around noon and after around seven hours of tough poker; it was Yann Dion who finished at the top of the chip counts with a huge 2,670,000-chip stack.
The man that had the attention of the railbirds from the start of the day was Phil Ivey and the Ivey show did not disappoint. He started the day with 1,107,000 and after a long day of ups and downs, he will return on Day 5 with enough chips to keep his opponents very concerned. A key hand for Ivey came when he and Karim Jomeen got all the chips in on a 
board. Ivey held 
for bottom set, while Jomeen held 
for middle set. Fortunately for Ivey, Jomeen only put a small dent in his stack and he still sat with around the chip average. At the end of the day, Ivey bagged up 699,000.
The play was fast and aggressive right from the start, with the first couple eliminations coming within the first level. Every returning player was guaranteed at least A$35,000 and it was David Steicke who was the first player to go home with that score. Steicke was unlucky to run his 
into the 
of Patrick Healy and when no help came for him, it was out the door in 26th place.
Following Steicke out the door in 25th place was Ioannis Makris, with his elimination coming at the hands of Ivey. Andrew Mellado then hit the rail in 24th place when he couldn’t win a race against Dion. The payday increased for the next couple of players, with Louie Srour exiting in 23rd place before Day 2 overnight chip leader Tim O’Shea joined him in 22nd place.
By this point in the tournament, Janis Lesinskis was on a roll and continued that run as he sent Elton Tsang home in 21st place. Next out the door was Josh Barrett, with his 
not able to catch up against 
. Borge Dypvik’s stack was left to blind off for half of the first level, but he ended up managing a 19th place finish.
Slade Fisher was in bad shape when he got his stack all-in preflop holding 
against Jomeen’s 
, however he was looking good as the turn card was dealt on a 
board. Unfortunately for Fisher, the on the river gave Jomeen the straight and sent him home in 18th place. The next to go, in 17th place, was Joey Lawrence, with his 
not faring well against Daniel Idema’s 
.
Idema then continued his climb up the chip leader board, eliminating Minh Nguyen in 16th place. In that hand Idema held 
and had to come up against Nguyen’s . The ace fell on the flop and Idema added another casualty to his hit list. Grant Levy was next to go in 15th place, after losing a flip for his tournament life against Lesinskis.
While Matt Turk started the day with a massive chip lead, that wasn’t the same story just a few hours into Day 4. Turk lost a large portion of his stack to Lesinskis when he watched his 
go up against Lesinskis' . The 
board was enough to see Lesinskis survive and thrive, while Turk was sent down the chip leader board. Turk then bled chips throughout the day before his last hand saw his 
run into the of Dion to see him out the door in 14th place. Interestingly, Turk finished up Day 3 with more chips then the current chip leader going into Day 5.
This is when things really started going well for Dion, with the last elimination of the night also coming at his hands. It was Danny Chevalier who was next on Dion’s kill list, with Chevalier getting his short stack in preflop holding 
against Dion’s 
. The flop gave them both a piece, but the ace for Dion was enough to end Chevalier’s tournament life. These are the final two tables in the Aussie Millions Main Event.

Idema Loses a Chunk as Play Ends
While Danny Chevalier was eliminated on Table 31, Daniel Idema and Janis Lesinskis were involved in a big pot preflop over on Table 32.
Idema had opened from under the gun to 40,000 and Lesinskis three-bet to 125,000 from the button. Action folded back to Idema and he four-bet to 275,000. Lesinskis five-bet to 425,000. Idema got a count on Lesinskis' remaining stack, which was 627,000, and then called.
The flop came down 
and Idema checked. Lesinskis fired 192,000 and Idema quickly folded.

Danny Chevalier Eliminated in 13th Place (A$75,000)
Danny Chevalier
Danny Chevalier came back from dinner as the shortest stack in the room, and he didn't waste much time taking his stand. We didn't see how the money went in preflop, but it looks like Chevalier was the one doing the shoving with . However it happened, Yann Dion came along with the covering stack, the superior , and the chance at the knockout.
The board ran out blanks for the Aussie, coming 
. Unable to get over the hump, Chevalier has been sent to the rail in 13th place, good for the last A$75,000 payout.
It also cues the end of our Day 4.

Nelson is the River Hero
On the final hand of the day Lee Nelson picked up quite some chips when he made a really nice call against Oliver Speidel. We caught the action on a 
board when Speidel checked to Nelson who bet 150,000 in a reasonable pot. Nothing too crazy just yet, but than Speidel put out a raise to 380,000. Nelson went into the tank for a solid minute but than smoothly pushed forward the 230,000 needed for the call.
Speidel turned over , for just a pair of eights, and Nelson showed 
, for just a pair of jacks. The day is over and Nelson just scooped up a nice pot before bagging his chips.

Matt Turk Eliminated in 14th Place (A$75,000)
Matt Turk sweating his tournament life.
"I could have stayed at dinner!", said Matt Turk as he had his tournament life on the line holding against Yann Dion's .
All the chips were in preflop and it was bleak days for the player who started Day 4 with a huge chip lead. It is interesting to note that Turk started the day with more chips than the current chip leader, with 13 remaining.
The board ran out 
, a small straight sweat on the turn coming to no avail as Turk was sent out the door in 14th place.
