PartyPoker Premier League IV

Day 7 Completed

Congratulations to David Benyamine; PartyPoker Premier League IV Champion ($400,000)!

It was David Benyamine who was left standing at the end of the PartyPoker Premier League IV. He came into the final table second in points meaning he was second in chips.

The chipleader coming into the day, Phil Laak, was the first to go and shortly following his elimination, Roland De Wolfe followed suit.

The fourth place finisher was Daniel Negreanu who was the chipleader of the tournament just minutes before he was crippled by Luke Schwartz and then eliminated by David Benyamine.

Giovanni Safina was eliminated in third place when Schwartz rivered the winning hand bringing the tournament heads-up. The normally brash Schwartz was gracious in defeat when the tournament was finally over.

We'd like to thank PartyPoker, the M Resort and Casino, MatchRoom Sports, and all of you out there following along. We'll see you next time!

Luke Schwartz Eliminated in 2nd Place ($200,000)

After going from chip leader just five minutes ago to now being on the brink of elimination, Luke Schwartz raised it up to 80,000 with {q-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and would get called by David Benyamine who held a dominating {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}.

The flop would be cruel to Schwartz putting him in an awkward spot coming down {5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{q-Spades}. Benyamine coyly checked, allowing Schwartz to bet 70,000. Beyamine then raised it up to 210,000 and after a few seconds Schwartz moved all in for 480,000 more.

This move sent Benyamine deep into the tank, as he pondered whether or not to make the call. The longer it took, the more confident Schwartz got thinking for sure he had the best hand. "He would have called by now if he had me beat," said Schwartz. Phil Hellmuth commented that the confidence Schwartz was showing, thinking he was ahead could possibly prompt a fold from Benyamine.

Finally, Benyamine slid the chips into the center and Schwartz proudly announced he had a queen, only to see it was no good. "Why'd you slow roll," Schwartz said to Benyamine. "That's an easy call."

Schwartz then pleaded the dealer to peel some sort of card that would help his chances for a chop, even offering up $2,000 for a winning three.

The turn card was the {7-Hearts} eliminating any chance at a chop, and now Schwartz would need a deuce, and only a deuce to take down the pot. It wasn't meant to be as the {6-Hearts} hit the felt.

Luke Schwartz graciously shook David Benyamine's hand and congratulated him on the victory. Schwartz takes home $200,000 for his efforts this week for the runner-up finish.

Schwartz Coolered

Luke Schwartz and David Benyamine limped to the {6-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop.

Benyamine was holding {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}, while Schwartz held {10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}.

The two checked the flop and turn which was the {7-Diamonds}.

The {3-Diamonds} hit the river giving Schwartz and Benyamine straights. Schwartz made it 80,000 and Benyamine raised to 150,000. Schwartz thought about it for a bit saying, "how did you make the flush" and then made the call.

Schwartz tossed his cards on the table, visibly irritated, when he saw Benyamine's higher straight.

Giovanni Safina Eliminated in 3rd Place ($120,000)

Poker loves a good ol' fashion internet qualifier.

Giovanni Safina, the online qualifier who got all this way for just $120 moved all in with {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Luke Schwartz snap-called and flipped over {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and immediately looked disturbed. "I thought i had king-jack! Am I spastic or something?"

The flop came {5-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Safina's hand was still in the lead. The {j-Spades} hit on the turn, and now if Schwartz had held the king-jack he would be in the lead.

It wouldn't matter though, as the {3-Diamonds} crashed to the felt on the river giving Schwartz the winning hand nonetheless. He screamed with excitement, and immediately walked over and graciously shook Safina's hand.

Safine smiled as the crowd congratulated him on his amazing accomplishment. He earns $100,000 for his amazing two-weeks in Vegas.

Going into heads up play, Schwartz holds a solid chip lead.

Luke Schwartz - 1,320,000
David Benyamine - 580,000

Lots of Moving In

With the blinds high, it seems like whoever is on the button is just moving in and getting no action. Since the blinds go up based on hands dealt, and not time this could push the action rather quickly as we inch closer to the 20,000/40,000 level.
