Tony G wins European Poker Player of the Month Award.

Top player Tony G has won the European Player of the Month award, it was announced today by William Hill. The European player of the month award is determined by a committee at William Hill Poker, and this month the competition was fierce. Tony's win in the European Championship propelled him to victory in this award, closely edging out top player Tony Bloom, who won the Victor Cup, and Iwan Jones, who won the London Open.

This month will be just as hotly contested, with two European Poker Tour events, and the World Speed Poker Championships on tap.

'I have been playing really well of late, and I'm really enjoying playing poker right now' said Tony 'I appreciate the acknowledgement from William Hill, and it is always nice to be recognized by your peers.'

As for the European Championship, Tony had this to say 'I played really well at the European Championship, and as with any win, I had a bit of luck as well. I look forward to playing a lot more poker in 2005, and in fact I am playing both the Speed Poker Championships, and the London EPT event this week.'

'Tony's win from a high class field in the most prestigious event of the month was just enough to hold off the challengers and give him this well deserved award.' Said Phil Quayle, Poker room manager for William Hill 'The caliber of tournaments available in August was of the highest standard and resulted in a very close decision but Tony's gracious victory earned the vote of our judging panel.'

Previous winners of the award include Rob Hollink, 2005 WPT Championship runner up Paul Maxfield, and Andy Black, who took 5th place in the main event of the 2005 WSOP.
