PokerStars 2008 WCOOP Day 13 Summary Report: Shaun Deeb, 'rubenrtv' Post Wins

Day 13 of the World Championship of Online Poker on PokerStars proved unlucky for most, but some continued to defy the odds. The WCOOP has already showcased some of the game's best and Day 13 was no exception. Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Scott "dorinvandy" Dorin have already posted exceptional WCOOPs, but each excelled early Thursday morning as the 13th full day of play came to a close. ElkY went deep in a WCOOP event for the fourth consecutive day, this time in Event #25, finishing 12th. Online star Shaun Deeb outlasted the field to capture the title. In event #26, Scott Dorin again played excellent poker en route to a fifth-place finish, but it was rubenrtv who was the last standing.

WCOOP Event #25: $300+$20 (w/ re-buys) PLO, $500,000 Guaranteed

Event #25, $300+20 Pot-Limit Omaha with re-buys, guaranteed $500,000 and topped that easily. Following 748 entries, 1,254 re-buys, and 560 add-ons, the prize pool tallied $768,600. Many big names posted notable finishes, among them Mario "pwnasaurus" Silvestri in 11th place ($8,070.30), Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier in 12th place ($8,070.30), omalos in 16th place ($,6,533.10), and Kyle "kwob20" Bowker in 18th place ($4,995.90). More top finishes included Sorel "zangbezan24" Mizzi in 29th ($2,690.10), Travis "TravestyFund" Rice in 36th ($2,690.10), Stuart "thedonator" Paterson in 38th ($2,382.66), Dario "Dariominieri" in 44th ($2,382.66), Chris "TheTownhouse" Odle in 46th ($2,152.08) and Chris "Money800" Moneymaker in 105th ($1,921.50).

The final table boasted some of the best online tournament players including Shaun Deeb, Jamie "TheNew" Robbins, and Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy. After sixteen and a half hours of play, Shaun Deeb emerged victorious after defeating Jamie Robbins heads-up. Deeb adds a WCOOP bracelet and $144,112.50 to his impressive resume.

WCOOP #26: $300+$20 NLHE (6-max), $500,000 Guaranteed

A massive field of 3,273 registered for WCOOP Event #26, a $320 NLHE 6-max affair. The prize pool totaled $981,900, easily surpassing the $500,000 guaranteed . Notable finishes include Mike "Sowerss" Sowers in eighth place ($10,800.91), Joe "ender555" Ebanks in 14th place ($6,382.36), and iCeVeNoM in 37th place ($2,700.23). More top finishes included Justin "WPThero" Rollo in 43rd ($2,307.47), Shane "Shaniac" Schleger in 44th ($2,307.47), Hoss_TBF in 79th ($1,571.05) and Vanessa "LadyMaverick" Rousso in 211th ($736.42).

The final table saw Event #7 winner Scott "dorinvandy" Dorin finish in fifth place, but it was rubenrtv that won the bracelet here, defeating MCLegend heads-up.
