PokerStars.net Latin American Poker Tour's Second Season Announced

The PokerStars.net Latin American Poker Tour has announced the LAPT's Season 2, which will begin in early November with the return of the San Jose, Costa Rica stop, the first of an expanded six events on the tour's upcoming schedule. In addition to the Costa Rica event, Season Two LAPT stops will be held in Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina.

The opening event in San Jose will take place November 3-5, 2008 at the Ramada Plaza's Herradura Conference Centre in San Jose, Costa Rica. LAPT San Jose's main event will feature a $3,500+200 buy-in, which will be the base level for all LAPT main events, with the exception of the season-ending LAPT Championship. That still-to-be-finalized stop will be held in April, 2009 and will boast a $5,000+200 entry. The complete list of dates and event venues for the other five Season 2 LAPT stops has not yet been released.

Valdemar Kwaysser, an online qualifier at PokerStars, won the debut San Jose event in Season 1, topping 397 other players and collecting $274,103 in prize winnings. A number of the famed Team PokerStars pros are expected to take part, including Costa Rica's own Humberto Brenes.

LAPT President Glenn Cademartori noted the growth of poker in Latin and South America as the reason for the tour's Season Two expansion. "PokerStars LAPT Season One was defined by ground-breaking debut success. Season Two will be defined by growth and expansion as we fully spread the tour across Latin America," said Cademartori. "We were so overwhelmed with the success of LAPT Season 1, that we wanted to come back with Season 2 straight away, moving it into the high-season for Latin American tourism. It will be the best time for Latin Americans, as well as North Americans, Europeans and players from across the globe to travel to these exotic destinations for live high-stakes championship poker."

Online qualifiers to all LAPT events take place regularly on Pokerstars. More information on the upcoming LAPT events is available at www.lapt.com.
