Online Poker Report: 'BobbyFi', 'oh i win yay' Take Early-week Majors

Getting to the final table with a deep stack was the key to success in online poker's early-week majors. At Full Tilt on Monday, "oh i win yay" reached the final in second place and stormed to the win with a comeback during heads-up play. In the PokerStars Super Tuesday, "BobbyFi" began the final with the lead and rode that edge all the way to the win. Here's how the action went:

PokerStars Super Tuesday

Three hundred and fifty players were on hand for the most recent edition of the PokerStars Super Tuesday, exactly matching the event's guarantee. 45 places cashed and first was scheduled to receive $68,250. Notable finishers outside the final table included Taylor "ElMastermind" McFarland in 12th place ($4,900), Jonathan "Iftarii" Jaffe in 15th ($4,200), Owen "ocrowe" Crowe in 16th ($3,500), Stian "JohnnyBelow" Stable in 17th ($3,500), Garrett "gbecks" Beckman in 29th ($2,275), and Randy "Randers" Haddox in 30th ($2,275). The chip counts to start the final table were as follows:

BobbyFi - 214,967
Mike "chapmoney" Chappus - 187,560
WERPOI - 183,305
Michnak - 151,072
toughtoread - 104,845
BadcardsAA - 60,507
hezi20 - 54,386
EDU_SEQUELA - 49,576
Madmax_sa - 43,782

At the 2,000/4,000/400 level, BadcardsAA was the first to exit the final table after getting it in with (8-Clubs)(8-Spades). Unfortunately for him, the snowmen were dominated by Madmax_sa's (Q-Hearts)(Q-Diamonds) and the board brought no eight. BadcardsAA finished in ninth place for $6,125. Toughtoread went next, at 3,000/6,000/600. From the small blind, toughtoread shoved for 58,595 with (J-Diamonds)(10-Diamonds) and BobbyFi called out of the big blind with (A-Diamonds)(9-Clubs). The board ran out (2-Hearts)(4-Clubs)(Q-Diamonds)(3-Clubs)(4-Diamonds) and toughtoread's tournament was done in eighth place for $8,750.

The 4,000/8,000/800 level brought three eliminations. First, WERPOI moved all in from the button with (A-Diamonds)(K-Hearts) for 24,275 and Mike "chapmoney" Chappus called at a discount from the big blind with (Q-Hearts)(3-Spades). The board paired only Chappus' hand as it came (9-Spades)(4-Clubs)(3-Diamonds)(8-Clubs)(5-Spades) and WERPOI was out in seventh place for $12,250. Michnak was the next to go after a shove from middle position for 53,900. BobbyFi called from the cutoff with (A-Diamonds)(J-Diamonds) and led Michnak's (8-Spades)(5-Spades). The board came (K-Diamonds)(9-Clubs)(6-Clubs)(J-Hearts)(9-Diamonds) and Michnak finished in sixth place for $15,750. Mike "chapmoney" Chappus was felted a few hands later. He raised to 24,000 on the button and BobbyFi shoved with the bigger stack. Chappus called with (J-Hearts)(J-Clubs), ahead of BobbyFi's (8-Hearts)(8-Diamonds). Unfortunately for Chappus, the board ran out (10-Spades)(8-Clubs)(10-Hearts)(K-Spades)(A-Spades) and chapmoney hit the virtual rail in fifth place, worth $20,125.

Finishing in fourth place at 5,000/10,000/1,000 was Madmax_sa. BobbyFi opened to 25,000 from the cutoff and Madmax_sa reraised all in from the small blind for 132,100 with (A-Diamonds)(K-Clubs). BobbyFi called with (4-Clubs)(4-Diamonds) and won the hand outright when the board rolled out (6-Spades)(4-Hearts)(10-Clubs)(9-Spades)(Q-Hearts). Madmax_sa went out in fourth place for $29,400. EDU_SEQUELA was the last one to go before heads-up. BobbyFi raised to 25,000 from the small blind and EDU_SEQUELA raised all in for 180,896 with (10-Diamonds)(9-Diamonds). BobbyFi snap-called with (A-Clubs)(K-Hearts) and won the hand as the board rolled out (3-Spades)(K-Diamonds)(5-Diamonds)(5-Hearts)(8-Spades). EDU_SEQUELA earned $38,500 for third place.

The chip counts at the start of heads-up play were as follows:

BobbyFi - 890,404
hezi20 - 159,596

The match ended at 6,000/12,000/1,200 when hezi20 limped in on the button. BobbyFi shoved with the big stack and hezi20 called all in with (Q-Diamonds)(J-Diamonds). BobbyFi tabled (A-Spades)(K-Diamonds) and maintained the lead as the flop came (4-Hearts)(J-Hearts)(K-Clubs). The (Q-Spades) on the turn gave hezi20 the advantage with one card to come, but the (10-Diamonds) river card made Broadway for BobbyFi and sent hezi20 off the stage as runner-up for $51,625. BobbyFi picked up $68,250 for winning the PokerStars Super Tuesday.

Final Results:

1. BobbyFi - $68,250
2. hezi20 - $51,625
3. EDU_SEQUELA - $38,500
4. Madmax_sa - $29,400
5. Mike "chapmoney" Chappus - $20,125
6. Michnak - $15,750
7. WERPOI - $12,250
8. toughtoread - $8,750
9. BadcardsAA - $6,125

Full Tilt Monday $1K

The Full Tilt Monday $1K attracted 361 entrants, generating a winner's payday of $90,250. Among the best finishers falling short of the final table were Matt "All In At 420" Stout in 12th place ($4,513), Jose M. "papadelpoker" de la Guardia in 13th ($3,610), Grayson "The_Dean221" Nichols in 14th ($3,610), Joseph "bigegypt" Elpayaa in 17th ($2,708), and Dave Colclough in 26th ($1,985.50). The chip counts to start the final table were as follows:

Oldmand - 343,301
oh i win yay - 188,284
BegsClutch - 166,291
Dr_Gammon - 104,726
Jake "CrayonBox" Walsh - 66,442
nyr1317 - 64,980
Tony "Bond18" Dunst - 62,636
4XTRADER - 60,572
DaBaser - 25,768

A flurry of eliminations marked the 2,500/5,000/600 level. On the button 4XTRADER shoved for 34,704 with (A-Spades)(7-Spades) and was called by oh i win yay from the small blind with (K-Diamonds)(Q-Hearts). The board ran out (A-Diamonds)(4-Diamonds)(7-Diamonds)(3-Diamonds)(9-Clubs) to give oh i win yay the winning flush. 4XTRADER won $7,220 for the ninth-place showing. Two hands later BegsClutch, with (10-Hearts)(10-Clubs), called a reraise all in from Dr_Gammon, who held (4-Hearts)(4-Spades). The board did not deliver a four and Dr_Gammon departed in eighth for $9,025. The following hand, Oldmand attempted to set the shorter stacks all in from the button, and received a call from Jake "CrayonBox" Walsh in the big blind with (K-Diamonds)(J-Spades). However, Oldmand held (Q-Diamonds)(Q-Clubs) and held on to win the hand as the board came (8-Hearts)(6-Spades)(5-Spades)(A-Spades)(10-Clubs). Walsh earned $11,732.50 for seventh place. In the next hand, Tony "Bond18" Dunst was all in for his tournament life with (A-Diamonds)(Q-Spades) against BegsClutch's (9-Spades)(9-Diamonds). The cards came out (6-Clubs)(6-Hearts)(3-Clubs)(4-Clubs)(10-Hearts) as Dunst hit the rail in sixth place for $18,050.

The early short stack, DaBaser, managed to make a good amount of money watching the rest of the table play before going out next at 3,000/6,000/750. He shoved for his remaining 25,836 with (A-Clubs)(K-Clubs) and found action from BegsClutch in the big blind with (6-Diamonds)(5-Clubs). The board ran out (4-Spades)(2-Clubs)(8-Spades)(7-Hearts)(5-Diamonds) as the straight did DaBaser in, giving him a fifth-place finish worth $25,270. Soon after, nyr1317 hit the rail as well. His shove from the button with (A-Hearts)(4-Clubs) for 39,930 was called by oh i win yay from the big blind, who showed (6-Diamonds)(6-Spades). The board brought no help for nyr1317, who finished fourth for $33,392.50.

With just three players remaining and the blinds and antes still 3,000/6,000/750, there was plenty of play available with the chip counts as follows:

Oldmand - 380,093
oh i win way - 373,968
BegsClutch - 328,939

BegsClutch took control of the table and dominated three-handed play. At 5,000/10,000/1,000, Oldmand opened for 38,000 on the button and BegsClutch shoved with the big stack. Oldmand called all in for 57,898 with (K-Spades)(6-Clubs) and needed to catch some cards to defeat BegsClutch's (A-Clubs)(J-Hearts). The board rolled out (4-Diamonds)(A-Hearts)(10-Diamonds)(A-Spades)(2-Diamonds) and Oldmand was sent off in third place for $43,320.

Heads-up play began with BegsClutch holding nearly a 4:1 chip lead, but oh i win way stormed back to win the tournament. It came to an end when oh i win yay, pushed with (K-Diamonds)(4-Hearts) to put BegsClutch to the test. BegsClutch called all in with (A-Spades)(10-Diamonds). The board came (J-Clubs)(J-Hearts)(K-Clubs)(4-Diamonds)(7-Hearts) as BegsClutch finished as the runner-up for $57,760, while oh i win yay took down the Full Tilt $1K Monday for $90,250.

Final Results:

1. oh i win yay - $90,250
2. BegsClutch - $57,760
3. Oldmand - $43,320
4. nyr1317 - $33,392.50
