We’re not talking about the counterfeit chip debacle, but rather a story involving a $1.50 online bet and a $153,638.75 payday. Earlier this week a 29-year-old man (who has asked to remain anonymous) was visiting his parents in Monmouth County when he decided to log into BorgataCasino.com and take advantage of the free $20 sign-up offer. He then began playing the “Going Nuts” online progressive slot machine.
At around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, he bet $1.50, hit the mega cash jackpot, and won $153,638.75 — one of the largest online jackpots in New Jersey history — from the comfort of his bedroom.
“I was in utter shock!” the New Jersey native exclaimed according to a press release from Borgata. “I could not believe what had just happened…I was just staring at the screen in awe.”
“I’ve been coming to Borgata to play poker and black jack with my friends since I turned 21,” the man added. “It was really cool to win online but I will definitely be returning to Atlantic City soon.”
