2015 European Poker Tour Deauville: What To Do

what to

Considered to be Paris' twenty-first district, Deauville is the perfect spot where to go to enjoy some good relax and mix with France’s upper class.

If you are in town for February's leg of the 2015 European Poker Tour, you should get the chance to leave the elegant Casino Barriére to explore everything the city has to offer. Here's a list of some great things you can do in Deauville right during the second EPT stop in 2015.

A walk at the beach

Although February may not sound like the ideal time for that, Deauville's famous and beautiful sandy beach is something that should definitely be on everyone’s list.

Painted by countless painters, the city' sandy beach has also been used as set for a great number of movies as the hyper-romantic and award-winning Un homme et une femme (A man and a woman) by France’s legendary Claude Lelouch.

Also, the beach is right next to the tournament venue - so, if you are in Deauville to play poker, there is a good chance that you will find yourself there to enjoy the view…or simply get over a bad, bad beat.

The Hippodrome

If you want to feel like a true Parisian, then head to the hippodrome and get your bets ready. You can choose between the Hippodrome de la Toques and the Hippodrome de Deauville-Clairefontaine.

Also, if you are in Deauville for the French Poker Series ,you should know that on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, the city will celebrate La Route des Etalons 2015, a tour that will give you the opportunity to meet over 100 of the best stallions in the region. (Yes, we are still talking about horses.) More info about the event athttp://www.laroutedesetalons.com/

A ride on the mini Train

Given that the small and colorful Bac boats that connect Deauville to Trouville-sur-mer won't be out before March, the only chance the laziest ones have to discover the city without actually walking is to get a seat on Deauville's mini train.

A 30-minute ride on this utterly touristic attraction will cost you €6,50 and will give you some interesting facts about the city.

Try the speed sails!

If you need to get some exercise, the Water Sports Centre of Deauville is the place to go.

If the weather is good enough, the guys there will set you up to go horse riding at the beach, drive karts at a karting track nearby, explore the area on a quad or - and this is something you definitely should never miss - try a superb speed sail experience!

Relax at the Thalasso Centre

After some good sports, you can head to the Thalasso Deauville. This wellness centre is located between the Casino Barrière de Deauville and the famous 'Planches', the long boardwalk along the waterfront, and has been awarded with the title of Best French Day Spa in 2009 and 2010.

The centre offers everything you may need to relax your body and your nerves, with massages, spa treatments, steam rooms, saunas, jacuzzis and swimming pools.

Deauville at night

Although the Casino Barrière tends to be the centre of what happens in Deauville, the city is home to some other cool bars and clubs.

Le Chic and Les Plances are the two clubs that you should definitely try if you are in the mood for dancing, while places like Le Seven and Le Point Bar are two other solid choices to enjoy some drinks in a friendly (and noisy) atmosphere.

Then, if you want to get in touch with the city's high-society and you do not mind to pay €15 for a (small) beer, you should not miss to pay a visit to the hyper-exclusive Brummel club, located right inside the Barrier Casino.
