2015 Western New York Poker Challenge to Run March 6-15 at Seneca Niagara

Seneca Niagara Falls

From March 6-15, Seneca Poker Niagara Falls will play host to the 2015 Western New York Poker Challenge, a series of tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $50-$1,000. At the low end, the series will run a $50 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament, one that will boast a hefty $25,000 guarantee, from March 9-12, while the $1,000 buy-in, $200,000 guaranteed Main Event will take place from March 13-15.

Event #5 $50 NLHE ($25,000 Guaranteed) will feature six starting flights and allow for late registration and unlimited reentries for the first 12 levels. Players are allowed to play in more than one flight. Any player that survives more than one flight will only be able to take their largest finishing stack forward into Day 2.

The first five events of the series will be held in the Seneca Niagara Poker Room, meaning participants need to be 21 years old to play, but beginning with Event #6 $200 No-Limit Hold'em action will be moved to the hotel balcony. As such, that event as well as Event #7 $1,000 Main Event and Event #8 $200 NLHE will be open to players 18 years old and up. Likewise, satellites held on the hotel balcony are open to those 18-plus.

The PokerNews Live Reporting team will be on the floor providing live updates, chip counts, photos and more from each tournament. We will also be activating the MyStack App for all events, allowing players to directly update their chip counts in the PokerNews Blog using their iPhone or Android phone. "PokerNews is very happy to be working together with Seneca Gaming and Entertainment for live coverage of this year's Western New York Poker Challenge. We'll be providing coverage of eight feature events," said PokerNews Editor-in-Chief Donnie Peters. "This includes the highly-anticipated $1,000 Main Event, which grew from 2013 to 2014 and will likely see another bump in attendance as the event boasts a $200,000 guarantee. Furthermore, it’s great to see that a few of the tournaments, including the Main Event, are 18-plus events, allowing some younger players to get a chance at igniting their poker careers. PokerNews very much looks forward to this stop, and you should, too."

Last year, Nick Walker topped a field of 183 entries to win the $100,000 Guaranteed Main Event for $37,061. Other winners from the 2014 WNY Poker Challenge included Kevin Mathias (Event #1 $200 No-Limit Hold'em for $6,514), Joseph Elia (Event #2 $500 NLHE for $14,364), Tristran Coffin (Event #3 $300 NLHE for $4,900), Thomas Keeper (Event #10 $300 NLHE for $4,500), Andy Spears (Event #12 $200 NLHE Deepstack Turbo for $6,422), and Robert Donegan (Event #16 $300 NLHE for $6,163).
