Hollywood Poker Open Festival in Grantville, Pennsylvania Kicks Off Thursday
The Hollywood Poker Open's (HPO) next Regional stop will kick off this Thursday at the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville, Pennsylvania. From March 26 through April 5, 32 events — 11 of which are HPO-sanctioned "featured" events — will take place at the venue.
In addition, promotional seats into the season-ending Championship Event at M Resort Casino Spa in Las Vegas will be given away.
"We plan to not only give away hundreds of seats [over the season] to the Championship again, but we will also implement similar seat winner promotions to the Regional tournament series as well," said Bill Bruce, who has served as the HPO tournament director since the tour's inception. "These HPO tournament fields are such a great mix of traveling poker professionals and local promotion winners which makes the tournaments really attractive to all levels of poker players."
Those who travel to Grantville – and the best way to do so is to fly into nearby Harrisburg – will also have the chance to play against 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champ and HPO ambassador Chris Moneymaker. This marks the second time Moneymaker has visited the property. He was there last year in Season 2, when Bradley Yazici topped a field of 37 players to take down the title for $22,752. Back then, the Main Event was a $1,800 buy-in. Of course the HPO has gained a lot of momentum since then, so with a more affordable buy-in, this year's field is bound to be even bigger.
