Unibet Announces UK Poker Tour "To Support Grassroots Poker"
Swedish online gambling giant Unibet announced the launch of the Unibet UK Poker Tour, a brand new live tournament series to be played throughout the UK in 2016.
As stated in a note sent to the media on Tuesday, the Unibet UK Poker Tour will be organized in cooperation with Caesars Entertainment, and will comprise of five stops with the first one kicking off at the Brighton Marina Village in Brighton, from Feb. 7-14, 2016.
The series, which Unibet says have been created "to support grassroots poker," aims to entice recreational players as well as first-timers who are looking for ways to enter the world of live tournament poker. Each of the stops in the calendar will feature a £40,000 guaranteed Main Event accessible for as little as £220, plus a full side event schedule.
To add even more value to the tournaments, the poker room decided to let each Main Event winner walk away also with a custom trophy and a €2,000 Unibet Open package. A €2,000 Unibet Open package will also go the online qualifier who lasts longest in each event.
"The UK poker scene is very close to our hearts," said the Marketing Manager at Unibet Poker David Pomroy."We're hoping to transfer some of the values of our flagship Unibet Open to this tour – namely a relaxed and fun atmosphere along with some memorable poker."
After the inaugural stop in Brighton, the Unibet UK Poker Tour will hit the cities of Nottingham, Brighton (again), Glasgow, and Manchester, bringing a week-long poker festival to each venue.
Players who reside in a country where Unibet Poker legally operates can try to qualify to the five Main Events through the online satellites available at the poker room. Also, all the new players from the UK will receive a free €4 qualifier ticket for the tour, alongside the usual Unibet Poker welcome offer of €200.
