I have heard that it is illegal to play online poker in the United States.

At the moment, US policy regarding online gaming is cloudy at best. Online poker has neither been declared illegal, or legal. The US Government tried to assert the Wire Act as policy to declare online poker, or any kind of online gaming illegal in a recent international court case. This assertion did not stand up in court, and online companies were allowed to continue doing business. The Genie is out of the bottle on the Internet, and we feel a policy of recognition, and regulation of online gaming in the US is only a matter of time.
