United StatesDavid Pham fled to the United States from his birthplace of South Vietnam when he was a teenager. His cousin, Men “The Master” Nguyen, gave Pham a job in his cleaning business before teaching David the game of poker. Nguyen showed his cousin the ins and outs of the game and before he knew it, David began to progress more and more in poker.
Many of the best pros out there consider David to be a great tournament poker player. In order to find out for yourself, you could take a pool of the players or just simply look up his results.
With two WSOP gold bracelets to his name, David Pham has over 20 cashes at the World Series. The two events he won were the 2001 $2,000 S.H.O.E. event and the 2006 $2,000 No-Limit Hold’em Shootout event. He pocketed over $140,000 and over $240,000 respectively.
The WSOP isn’t the only place that Pham has seen great results from. In 2003, he won an event at the L.A. Poker Classic WPT event for over $450,000 and placed fourth in another event at that same series for another $80,080. In 2004, Pham had three top-ten finishes at Festa al Lago III, the World Poker Finals, and the Five-Diamond World Poker Classic II, which he won. More finals tables have followed at WPT events, but that first-place win still eludes him.
In 2007, Pham won two events at the Winnin’ O’ the Green in March. In 2008, Pham placed fourth for $600,000 at the PokerStars Caribbean Poker Adventure.
In 2000 and 2007, David was recognized for his outstanding performance on the felt when he was named “Player of the Year” by CardPlayer Magazine. He has over $8 million in tournaments earnings.
