Biography

Kassem “Freddy” Deeb was born on November 27, 1955 in Beirut, Lebanon. He first came to the United States in 1975 to study mechanical engineering at the Utah State University. However, due to the civil war in Lebanon, Deeb had lost contact with his family which resulted in him loosing the financial support that he needed in order to maintain his studies. Left with no money and not being able to get a job, Freddy Deeb began gambling in order to support himself. Poker was not something new to Deeb as he had been playing cards back in Lebanon with his friends and family.

Deeb's first major success at the tables came in 1990 along with his first WSOP cash in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em event at the 21st World Series of Poker when he finished second in the tournament for a $130,000 cash prize. Freddy then scored a couple of more WSOP cashes in 92 and 93 before he got hold of his first title in 1994 when he won the $5,000 No Limit Hold'em event at the LA Poker Classic III for $134,000.

Just two years later Deeb won his first of the 2 WSOP bracelets by winning the $5,000 No Limit Deuce to Seven Draw event for $146,250. However, the second one came only 11 years latter in 2007 when Deeb scored at the $50,000 World Championship H.O.R.S.E event for $2,276,832 which is yet his biggest-ever tournament cashout.

Deeb's other big tournament finishes include winning the $5,000 Championship Event - No Limit Hold'em at the 2005 Ultimate Poker Classic in Palm Beach for $1 million, the $385,561 first-place prize at the € 20,000 No Limit Hold'em - High Roller event in WPT Rendez-Vous à Paris in 2010, 4th place finish in $15,000 No Limit Hold'em - Championship Event at the WPT Festa al Lago, Las Vegas in 2009 for $278,300 as well as many other six-figure live tournament cashes. As of 2011 Freddy Deeb owns a total of 2 WSOP bracelets and has got 28 cash finishes as well as 2 WPT titles, 5 final tables and 12 money finishes, his lifetime tournament winnings exceed $7,300,000.

Off the table Deeb is a devoted husband and a father of four children. He also enjoys leading a healthy lifestyle, he exercises on the daily basis, likes swimming, playing football, skiing and riding a bike.
