Congratulations to Derek Raymond, Champion of Event #46! Raymond started the day in 9th chip position of the 23 players remaining. He steadily and quietly climbed the counts as player after player was eliminated. Coming into the final table, Raymond was positioned well for a deep run. He was fourth in chips and in no danger of an immediate bust. In the end, it was stamina and resolve that brought Raymond the bracelet -- and perhaps a timely run of cards. No one can deny that limits were high at the end. This thing could easily have gone the other way. But it didn't, and Derek Raymond is our deserving champion.

Bahador Ahmadi

Sun Jun 28 2009

Winner of Event 47 - $2,500 Mixed Hold'em

Bahador Ahmadi played solidly over the course of the entire final table, changing gears when necessary and never appearing rattled even as play grew more aggressive at a short-handed table. In the end, his measured approach paid off with a victory worth $278,104 and a shiny new WSOP gold bracelet. Congratulations, Bahador!

Brandon Cantu

Sun Jun 28 2009

Winner of Event 48 - $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-better

762 Omaha enthusiasts took to the felt including the likes of Allen Cunningham, Roland De Wolfe, Kathy Liebert and Phil Hellmuth. However when play resumed today, there would be only two big names remaining with Brandon Cantu and Lee Watkinson headlining the final table. Starting heads-up play with a near five-to-two disadvantage, Cantu would let that slip out to a six-to-one disadvantage before mounting a comeback to remember. The win marked Cantu's second bracelet win, netting him almost $230,000 in prize money. Congratulations, Brandon!

David Bach

Wed Jul 01 2009

Winner of Event 49 - $50,000 World Championship H.O.R.S.E.

When the toughest field of the WSOP assembles to play the annual $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. World Championship, it takes a truly talented player to rise to the top. This year, that man is David Bach. Over the course of five very long days, Bach picked his way through a room full of 95 sharks with remarkable precision and diligence. He was up and down and back up again at the epic final table, and with the sun already high in the sky, he managed to outrun John Hanson to claim the prestigious bracelet, the Chip Reese Memorial Trophy, and more than $1.25 million just before lunch time on the sixth day. Congratulations to David Bach, the deserving World Champion of H.O.R.S.E.!

Greg Mueller

Mon Jun 29 2009

Winner of Event 50 - $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout

Greg "FBT" Mueller has won his second WSOP bracelet of the summer, becoming the fourth player to win multiple bracelets in 2009 -- both in limit hold'em events. Following his victory two weeks ago in Event No. 33, the $10,000 World Championship Limit Hold'em event, Mueller took down the $1,500 Limit Shootout, winning three tables in three days to do so. And he had to defeat some top-notch competition as well, including Marc Naalden heads up at the final table. Naalden had also won a bracelet this summer in a limit hold'em event (Event No. 38, $2,000 LHE).

Winner of Event 51 - $1,500 No Limit Hold'em

Carsten Joh outlasted a field of 2,781 players to take home a WSOP Bracelet and almost $650,000 in first place money. Joh has accumulated almost $300,000 in lifetime tournament earnings in Europe, but he made his first score in North America memorable by winning his first WSOP Bracelet.

Event 52
Event 52 - $3,000 Triple Chance No Limit Hold'em

Jorg Peisert

Thu Jul 02 2009

Winner of Event 52 - $3,000 Triple Chance No Limit Hold'em

Jorg Peisert began Day 3 of the tournament with 477,000 chips -- 6th on the leaderboard. As the day wore on, he never seemed to be in jeopardy of busting out and won most, if not all, of the key hands he was involved in. One by one, players from the final table were busting out, but Peisert kept climbing the ranks. He won one big hand by making his eventual heads-up opponent Jason DeWitt muck to move to over two million chips and then took another big pot off Michael Katz to move to over three million in chips. Once over three million, Peisert never looked back. For the win, Peisert earned himself $506,800 in prize money and his first WSOP gold bracelet!

David Halpern

Thu Jul 02 2009

Winner of Event 53 - $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo 8-or-better

Three days ago Mr. David Halpern attempted to buy into a cash game but it was full, so finding himself at a loose end and in the mood to play some poker, he bought himself into Event 53 instead on a last-minute whim. He's since converted his $1,500 and a dull afternoon into the highest accolade in poker, and will be taking home a nice bunch of money to go with it -- once he's finished drinking with his new buddy second place finisher William Kohler, of course. Congratulations, David!

Event 54
Event 54 - $1,500 No Limit Hold'em

Tony Veckey

Thu Jul 02 2009

Winner of Event 54 - $1,500 No Limit Hold'em

It took nearly 11 hours for Tony Veckey to claim the Event 54 title, but he'll tell you it was worth the effort and the missed flight home to Chicago. Our newest WSOP bracelet winner bested a field of 2,818 to walk away with the hardware and more than $673,000 in first-place money. Veckey played an aggressive and smart game throughout, raising his opponents and applying pressure whenever possible. Congratulations, Tony, for a tournament well-played!

Event 55
Event 55 - $2,500 Limit Deuce to Seven Triple Draw

Abe Mosseri

Thu Jul 02 2009

Winner of Event 55 - $2,500 Limit Deuce to Seven Triple Draw

There were 1,927,500 chips in play for Event #55, and after 24 levels of draw poker, those chips are all piled in front of one man. Abe Mosseri has just completed his run through the field, outlasting everyone who came against him to win this tournament. Mosseri has one earlier cash in this WSOP, and his second payday turns out to be the one he's been waiting for as it comes alongside his first-ever gold bracelet.
