Jeroen Marx
“The first time I played Texas Holdem was a little over 2 years ago,” recalls Jeroen Marx, “and I liked it right away.” He continues, “It took awhile before I went looking for more information… I think that’s a good thing because I created my own style before I learned from others.” Jeroen enjoys playing poker both live and online; “I like live poker better because you can see people, speak and it’s always fun… although I think I’ve learned more from online games, because you can play more hands in a short time against people that have also played a lot of hands.” Currently, Jeroen prefers to play both No Limit and Pot Limit Texas Holdem. Although he enjoys playing in both ring games and tournaments, the Dutchman has always been “very competitive in any game or sport” he plays, so he favours tournaments. Winning a $5000 PokerNews Cup Australia Freeroll is his biggest poker success. After Jeroen’s win, he “jumped up” from his chair and yelled. “Then I was starting at the screen,” remarks Jeroen, “it felt so unreal; I just couldn’t believe it.” Jeroen stayed up late that night and was “so excited I couldn’t sleep.” Jeroen is planning on throwing a party in order to celebrate his victory with friends, drinks and more poker. Apart from poker, Jeroen can be found playing and watching soccer and tennis. This will be his first appearance at a major tournament and Jeroen’s first time outside of Europe. “This is a dream come true,” explains Jeroen, “I’m just very excited I can go all the way to Australia to compete in a poker tournament… I can’t wait to get there, thank you PokerNews!” We hope to see more of Jeroen and his excitement when he takes his seat at the 2007 PokerNews Cup Australia.
