Poker News Cup

Karl-Heinz Metz
Karl-Heinz Metz has been playing poker for 14 months. Although he played 5 Card Draw in his youth, only recently has the German started playing Texas Holdem online and live. After being introduced to the game by a friend, Karl-Heinz looked into the possibility of playing online and hasn’t stopped since. The IT specialist enjoys playing online, although he does participate in a Fixed Limit Texas Holdem home game with friends. Currently, Karl-Heinz favours Texas Holdem but is interested in learning Stud. The German enjoys tournaments over ring games and prior to winning a $5000 PokerNews Cup Australia Freeroll, Karl-Heinz placed 42nd out of a field of 11,000 in a guaranteed online tournament. Karl-Heinz never thought he could win the freeroll, until heads-up, when he realised “if I survive this all-in I really have a chance.” Karl-Heinz celebrated his victory with a glass of his best single malt whiskey with his girlfriend. This will be Karl-Heinz’s first appearance at a major tournament and his first visit to Australia. We wish Karl-Heinz and the rest of Team PokerNews the best of luck when the 2007 PokerNews Cup Australia begins this October.
