Hardy Hits to Bust An Enemy

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

Anthony Hardy, known as The Booky, has doubled after bluffing on the turn to push an opponent off the pot when the board had read {8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{A-Spades} but his opponent called with {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and was ahead against The Booky's {K-Clubs}{3-Clubs} ... until a king on the river sent Hardy up to just under 30,000 chips - the starting stack.

Allen Happy to Apply Pressure

Level 5 : 300/600, 100 ante

Kevin Allen knows a little about sporting discipline, coming from a highly professional family in the area of football/soccer. It's not surprise that one of his greatest skills is temperament, and the Tottenham-supporting poker professional has just scored another positive result at his table.

One of four callers to a raise of 1,400 pre-flop, Allen saw a flop of {7-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and after two players checked, used his position and bet 4,800. The other three folded, and Allen has above his starting stack again after getting off to a tougher start than most.

Chattha Near Tops

Level 5 : 300/600, 100 ante

Charles 'Chaz' Chattha has enjoyed a deep run already this week, running deep in the £100,000 guaranteed Opening Event last weekend. He's doing very nicely in the Main Event too.

"I've been running well, although it could have been even better." Chaz told us when we asked how he got his six-figure stack.

"I had pocket queens all-in against {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} and he managed to find an ace. But it's going well.

Chaz is sharing a table with Kara Scott after the Team 888Poker Pro's third table move in two levels. For a lady who has lived in more countries than many people have made four-bets, she won't mind at all.

Jordon on a Roll

Level 3 : 150/300, 50 ante

Terry Jordon was a little short at Chris Da-Silva's table, but he's blustered his way back to double his starting stack and well above average. He was only too happy to tell us how he did it.

"I won nine hands in a row. I tried for ten, but Da-Silva stopped me. I was bluffing most of the time!"

Jordan has around 66,000 and a smile as wide as the Aspers Poker Room.

Da-Silva On Top in Day 1a of Main Event

Level 3 : 150/300, 50 ante

Chris Da-Silva has started like a runaway train on Day 1a of the Main Event.

We joined him in a pot with Terry Jordon when the latter had made a bet of 12,000 on a board of {10-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Da-Silva had a lot to weight up, but he eventually made the call.

"Two pair."

"I can beat most two pairs." said Da-Silva.

Jordon turned over {Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Da-Silva indeed had it beat with {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}. He is up to 97,000 and cruising.

"If you think that was a good call, he made an even better one earlier." said Jordon.

Flurry of Entries

Level 3 : 150/300, 50 ante

We've seen plenty of new players sitting down either before or during the break in the Main Event, with Kevin Allen, Chaz Chattha, Tim Timotheu, Michael Harb, Kam Kamara and Terry Jordon all taking part.

Of those players, Kamara and Jordon are the healthiest in terms of chip-stack, with each man sitting behind 45,000 chips, a considerable improvement on their starting stack of 30,000.
