Boxell Staying Alive

Leo Boxell has been very quiet today, and his chip stack has suffered too. We did, however, just see him commit his last 3,650 in chips on a flop reading {9-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, and find a fold from an opponent who previously checked his option.

Boxell was nice enough to flash his {K-Clubs} to his opponent, as well the others at the table, and scoop in a pot worth approximately 6,000 in chips.

McKenzie Eliminated by Howard-Smith

Action started with Brooke Howard-Smith opening with a bet to 1,850. Jesse McKenzie then decided to re-raise to 1850, which Howard-Smith called. The flop fell the {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}, and Howard-Smith continued with a bet of 750. McKenzie opted to raise it to 2,400, and was met with an all-in, which had him covered. He made the call but was behind with his {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, when he was shown the {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}.

The turn and river came the {8-Clubs} and {K-Hearts} to not improve McKenzie as he made his way to the door.

Fitzgerald the Overwhelming Chip Leader

Angie Fitzgerald has gone unnoticed until this stage of the tournament, which has come as a bit of a surprise, as she sits with a mountain of chips in front of her adding up to 110,000.

Cole Swannack and Leo Boxell will have to watch themselves, as they both sit directly to the right of her very intimidating stack.

Sheynin Takes One Out

We arrived at the table to see a player in middle-position limp into the pot, before calling a raise from Slav Sheynin on the button, for 700. The board dropped {9-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, and the original limper led out for 1,500 in chips, which Sheynin snap-called.

The {6-Hearts} fell on the turn, which was checked. Sheynin then bet 3,000 and his opponent went into the tank. After a minute, an all-in of 6,500 was announced, and Sheynin instantly called it off.

Opponent: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Sheynin: {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

The river fell the{3-Diamonds} to send his opponent to the rail, as Sheynin now sits on a stack of 28,000 chips.

Howard-Smith Can’t Win With Big Cards

After having a stack of 50,000 in chips, Brooke Howard-Smith has dropped a considerable amount in the space of a few hands, to fall to 25,000.

The hand started with the player in the under-the-gun position limping into the pot, before the next player paused for a moment and raised it to 2,200. Brooke Howard-Smith was in middle-position and asked his opponent how much he had, before making the call. The table folded back around to the original limper, who folded.

The board came out {9-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, and the original raiser announced all-in for 10,150, which was met with the quickest call from Howard-Smith.

“Do you have a heart?” asked Howard-Smith, tabling his {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} for a flopped top-set. His opponent looked upset, as he tabled the {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}.

“He has two outs though,” remarked Jesse McKenzie. The turn fell the {A-Clubs}, as Howard-Smith cried out “Argh!” after his opponent took back the lead.

“I had 50,000 in chips a few hands ago, and now I have 25,000” remarked Howard-Smith, as he sat leaned over the table, with his head in his hands as the chips were pushed over to his opponent

O’Rourke Eliminated, Howard-Smith Rockets Up

Liam O’Rourke opened with a bet of 400 from middle position, and found a call from Brooke Howard-Smith and Ivan Zalac in late positions, as well as the two players in the blinds.

The flop dropped {Q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, and both blinds as well as O’Rourke checked. Howard-Smith then bet out 2,200 in chips, and found a fold from everyone but O’Rourke, who threw in his last 7,000 in chips. Howard-Smith instantly apologised and made the call, tabling {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} for a flopped set.

“I was trying to hint for you to fold,” said Howard-Smith. O’Rourke laughed it off, tabling the {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, and knew he had a few outs to steal the pot.

The turn, however, produced the {q-Spades} to end O’Rourke’s day, as the meaningless {A-Diamonds} fell to complete the board.

O’Rourke made his way to the exit, as Howard-Smith stacked up his chips to 50,000 in chips.
