Welcome back to Crown Perth in Western Australia for the third stop on Season 5 of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour. Two Day 1 flights have already entered the record books, with the field of 219 being more than slashed in half to the 108 players who will return to the felt today.
The second day of the ANZPT Perth Main Event will see the players edge ever closer to the 24 money-paying positions. It will also see players start positioning themselves to make a run at the $114,000 first-place prize up for offer for the eventual champion.
One player who is already one to watch is Jesse McKenzie. A huge day at the felt yesterday saw McKenzie accumulate a chip stack more than double that of his nearest rival.
Although McKenzie will start the day as the chip leader, many of the most recognizable names from around the region ware also still in contention to become the next ANZPT champion. Check out all the chip counts and the Day 2 table draw below. All the action begins at 12.30 pm local time. Don't miss it!
Level: 7
Blinds: 400/800
Ante: 100
A short delay and Day 2 of the 2012 ANZPT Perth Main Event is back underway.
The plan of the day is to, just like Day 1, play six 60-minute levels. That should see us edge closer to the bubble, but ultimately fall short of the money.
The blinds commence at 400-800, with a 100-chip ante.
Let's do it!
Ivan Zalac has had plenty of success on the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour, including a final table at ANZPT Queenstown. He's had a good start here on Day 2 of ANZPT Perth and will be looking to make it another deep run.
We recently arrived at Zalac's table on the turn of a board, with Zalac leading into a sizable pot with a bet of 3,500. Zalac's one opponent called and a completed the board on the river. This time Zalac led for 3,600 and the player once again called.
"Flush," said Zalac as he tabled the .
That holding was enough for Zalac to scoop up the pot.
Player | Chips | Progress |
---|---|---|
Ivan Zalac | 51,000 | 10,250 |
"He just beat me on Bonus Texas Holdem," said Dean Francis in reference to Karib Karib who he had all in over on Table 16.
Unfortunately Karib, who held and was all in against the of Francis, he wouldn't win here in the real game of holdem, with a board sending the player home.

Dean Francis | 70,000 | 14,150 |

By the time we arrived at Dale Marsland and Amanda Decesare's table, the two players were already deeply involved in an all out war. The hand in question was already on the river of a board and Decesare had led for 10,300. At this point Marsland raised it up to 40,000. Decasare only had 15,000 behind and went deep into the tank. Fiddling with her chips and her cards, Decesare squirmed in her chair before opting to let her cards go.
Player | Chips | Progress |
---|---|---|
Dale Marsland | 105,000 | 34,375 |
Amanda De Cesare | 15,000 | -26,300 |
Team PokerStars Pros Bryan Huang and Angel Guillen started Day 2 on the same table and in fact are only separated by the dealer (Huang in Seat 1, Guillen in Seat 9).
Both of these players have lost a few chips since the start of the day, but the story is more dire for Huang who is struggling with just 15,000 in chips. We will be keeping a close eye on these two players throughout the day.
Player | Chips | Progress |
---|---|---|
Angel Guillen | 42,000 | -6,525 |
Bryan Huang | 15,000 | -5,100 |
