Day 3 Around the Corner

Chip leader, Luke Stanford - Day 2
Chip leader, Luke Stanford - Day 2
The third and final day of play is set to begin in just a short while from now - about 45 minutes. The tournament is down to its final 11 players. Luke Stanford has been on the positive side of all the big pots he's entered and will begin the day as the chip leader with 529,000 chips. Nathanael Seet and Wang Jung are both hot on his heels with over 400,000 each.

The seating assignments for the two tables are as follows:

Table 8
Seat 1: Dan Sing - 57,000
Seat 2: Jani Karke - 70,000
Seat 3: Eric Mutrie - 126,000
Seat 4: Michael Mariakis - 233,000
Seat 5: Wai Yuen - 159,000
Seat 6: Matthew Konnecke - 117,000

Table 9
Seat 1: Edward Holdcroft - 297,000
Seat 2: Luke Stanford - 529,000
Seat 3: Wang Jung - 404,000
Seat 5: Nathanael Seet - 468,000
Seat 6: Daniel Craker - 318,000

Table 9 has all of the chips in play and a fewer amount of players. It's been shown that no one seated at this table is going to shy away from a big pot so we could see some fireworks early on in the day.

Over on the other table, Table 8, Dan Sing will be looking to climb out of the gutter with his short stack and reach the final table. Jani Karke admitted at the end of yesterday's play that he's never had such a roller coaster ride in a tournament. He's close to the bottom with only 70,000 chips, but isn't too worried that he should be able to capitalize on some opportunities at his table. Also on that table is the single woman left in the tournament, Wai Yuen.

Play will begin at 12:15 PM local time and you can bet you'll find all the action right here. We'll see you then!

Sing Takes Some From Karke

Jani Karke wasted little time getting involved today. He raised the action to 18,000 on the first hand dealt. It folded around to Dan Sing, in the big blind, and he moved all in for 56,000 total. Karke showed the {A-Spades} and then folded. Sing showed pocket sixes and gathered in his new chips.

Quick Pause

Eric Mutrie was absent from the start of the tournament, but when the staff called over to his hotel room, Mutrie informed him that he thought we began at 1:00 PM. There was a change of schedule last night that Mutrie was unaware of, so the staff has stopped play for a brief five minutes to allow Mutrie to head on over from his hotel.

Edward Holdcroft Eliminated in 11th Place ($10,281)

Edward Holdcroft - 11th Place
Edward Holdcroft - 11th Place
Edward Holdcroft raised to 50,000 and Luke Stanford reraised to 140,000 from his immediate left. Action folded back over to Holdcroft and he made the call.

The flop came {9-Spades} {5-Clubs} {3-Clubs} and Holdcroft pushed all in as first to act. Stanford immediately called.

Holdcroft {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}
Stanford {A-Spades} {A-Hearts}

With his tournament life at risk, Holdcroft would need some help to stay alive. The turn was the {3-Spades}, leaving Holdcroft hoping for one of two queens remaining.

The river was dealt out nice and slow... the {7-Hearts}. That would be it for Holdcroft's tournament life. He finished in 11th place, earning NZD $10,281 for his efforts.

Karke Almost Gets There

Wai Yuen raised to 22,000 from middle position and Jani Karke moved all in from the small blind for 43,000 total. Eric Mutrie folded in the big blind and Yuen made the call.

Yuen: {A-Spades} {10-Clubs}
Karke: {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}

The flop was big for Karke despite the two players having the same holding, {K-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}. Karke needed a diamond to double up.

The turn was the {10-Spades} and the river the {J-Hearts}. The two players chopped the pot with a straight.

Eric Mutrie Eluminated in 10th Place ($10,281)

Eric Mutrie - 10th Place
Eric Mutrie - 10th Place
After losing almost all of his chips on the previous hand to a straight by Dan Sing, Eric Mutrie moved all in for his last 11,000 from the small blind after Matthew Konnecke raised to 16,000. Michael Mariakis called from the big blind as well.

The flop came down {K-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {3-Hearts} and Mariakis led out for 30,000. Konnecke elected to pass and let Mariakis do the work. Mariakis turned over {K-Spades} {7-Spades} and Mutrie held {4-Spades} {2-Spades}.

The turn was the {3-Clubs}, leaving Mutrie needing a five and a five only for a straight. The river was the {Q-Hearts} though and that was it for Mutrie's day. He came in late and made an early exit, earning NZD $10,281.
