Welcome Back, Sim Somyung!

Sim Somyung
Sim Somyung
A big pot has restored a healthy portion of Sim Somyung's stack. After Phillip Willcocks opened from middle position to 45,000, Somyung re-raised from the big blind to 100,000 straight. Willcocks called that bet, then called another 98,000 on a flop of {10-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {Q-Spades}. The turn {7-Diamonds} looked like a blank and brought a check from Somyung. Willcocks walked right into a big ol' bear trap when he bet 200,000, because Somyung's response was to move all in. That was an amount that Willcocks couldn't call. He passed, allowing Somyung to take down the pot.

Pronk Pushes the Kiwis

Phillip Willcocks opened to 45,000 from the cutoff. Both Nick Pronk and Kevin Clark called from the blinds.

The flop came {6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Pronk fired out a pot sized bet and both of the New Zealander's folded away.

Terry Fan Orders a Korean Double-Up

Sim Somyung and Dong-bin Han have shown no reluctance to get chips in the middle this afternoon. They've already been responsible for one double-up each and now Han has doubled up Terry Fan.

Somyung started the action with an under-the-gun raise to 50,000. Fan re-raised to 200,000, then called all in for about 365,000 total after Han moved all in. Fan turned over {A-Hearts} {K-Spades} and found himself up against perhaps a weaker hand than he expected, {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}. The board ran out safely for Fan, {J-Hearts} {A-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {A-Clubs}. He doubled up to about 800,000.

Sim Somyung Wins a Pot and a Penalty

Sim Somyung and Dong-bin Han got some Korean-on-Korean action happening.

Preflop, Han limped in, Mark Pagsuyuin completed from the small blind and Somyung checked the big blind.

The flop came {6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{a-Hearts} and it was checked around to the {7-Spades} turn. On the turn Pagsuyuin and Somyung both checked to Han who fried out a bet of 55,000.

Before Pagsuyuin had a chance to act, Somyung announced, call out of turn. Pagsuyuin folded and the tournament director ruled that the out of turn action was binding.

The {j-Clubs} hit the river and again Somyung checked, encouraging Han to bet out 70,000. Somyung called and rolled over {j-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. That would beat out Han's {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

Somyung dragged the pot, but was assessed a one hand penalty for acting out of turn.

Phillip Willcocks Eliminated in 8th Place ($14,000)

Phillip Willcocks - 8th Place
Phillip Willcocks - 8th Place
Mark Pagsuyuin has been very quiet at this final table so far, but his large crowd of Filipino supporters had a lot to cheer about on the last hand played. Phillip Willcocks opened the pot to 50,000, then called all in after Pagsuyuin re-raised all in for about 425,000. Willcocks was drawing with {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} against Pagsuyuin's {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}.

"Queen! Queeeeeeeeeen!" Pagsuyuin's supporters pleaded. They roared their approval when the flop came {5-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {2-Clubs} to give Pagsuyuin a set of queens and a hammer-lock on the hand. The turn {5-Hearts} paired the board, ending any further drama. Once the river fell {K-Hearts}, Willcocks left the table in 8th place.

Pronk Chases Away Clark

Nick Pronk
Nick Pronk
We're back to small pots after a rapid-fire series of big pots. Nick Pronk opened with a raise pre-flop from the small blind and was called by big blind Kevin Clark. Pronk's bet of 110,000 on the {5-Spades} {8-Clubs} {3-Spades} flop ended any further action in the hand as Clark folded.

Sim Somyung Doubles Up Dong-bin Han

Dong-bin Han
Dong-bin Han
Sim Somyung kept the Korean double up theme going. On an all-Korean heads-up flop of {10-Spades}{2-Clubs}{4-Spades} Dong-bin Han checked to Somyung who announced all in. The all in would be a massive overbet of the pot and would cover Han. Han didn't even think, he just announced call and tabled {A-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}.

Somyung rolled over his own {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and would need help in the now near million chip pot.

The turn {4-Hearts} and river {6-Hearts} were not his required outs so Somyung drops to 860,000. Han moves up to 950,000.
