Tony Makasovski Eliminated in 30th Place ($10,405)

Tony Makasovski - 30th Place
Tony Makasovski - 30th Place
Well, at least Tony Maksovski can say he got his chips in with aces. His pocket rockets were cracked by Dermot Blain's pocket nines when a nine floped, {7-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}. The players were close in chip counts, but Blain had more chips and the best hand. Maksovski wished everyone good luck and departed the tournament floor in 30th place, collecting $10,405 for his efforts.

Genius Call By Scott

Brandon Demes raised from under the gun to 20,000 before Andrew Scott popped it up to 60,000 from middle position. Play folded back to Demes who put his big stack to work and declared himself all in.

Scott went into the tank for many minutes. He cut down his chips and did some math, before exchanging some friendly banter.

"You keep doing this. You like shoving on my re-raises. Remember the nines from yesterday?" said Scott.

"Yep, and I had the best hand!" laughed Demes casually.

"This is the fourth time you've done this to me. You know what? I call." declared Scott and flipped his hand - {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}.

"You got me," replied Demes and opened {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

"YES!" screamed Scott as he jumped from his chair and clapped his hands in delight. "I am a f*#king genius!" continued Scott, "...NOW HOLDDDDDD!"

The board was spread {A-Hearts}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and Scott wins the pot to double up to around 450,000 as Demes slips to about 480,000.

Scott Gives Some Back

They can't all be genius hands for Andrew Scott. He attempted to eliminate Remy Bakke, taking {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} against Bakke's {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}. It was Bakke, however, who dragged the pot on a board of {7-Spades} {A-Spades} {2-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {6-Hearts} by making a pair of aces. Scott joked at the river that he had made a flush but Bakke didn't fall for the bait. He doubled up to 310,000.

Plenty of Action; Youngshin Gets Paid

Youngshin Im
Youngshin Im
There's been plenty of action over the past few minutes as the players start to get their chips moving. Wally Sombero has squeezed all in from the blinds on two consecutive hands but failed to get a caller.

While Joshua Ang moved all in over the top of an 80,000-chip bet on the turn by David Chiu on a {3-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{q-Clubs} board. Chiu gave it up.

One who did get some action with a big hand was Youngshin Im. We're not sure when the chips went into the middle, but Im held {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} for a full house on a board of {J-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} to the disappointment of Charles Lam who held {K-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for the nut flush. Im doubles to around 225,000 with Lam back to 110,000.

Lomas Doubles

Joshua Ang tried to put his big stack to work by moving in from the small blind with a moderate {J-?}{5-?} only to have the short-stacked Dane Lomas call in the big blind with his {A-Spades}{K-Spades}.

The board ran out {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Spades}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades} and Lomas improved to a flush to double up to around 225,000.

No Action for Lomas

David Chiu has been craftily hanging around this tournament for three days without making much of his presence known. He raised a recent pot preflop to 27,000 and was called by Dane Lomas out of the big blind. Both players checked the {2-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {3-Hearts} flop. When another heart, the {Q-Hearts}, fell on the turn and Lomas checked again, Chiu tried a bet of 39,000. Lomas called.

The river paired the board {Q-Clubs}. Lomas took the opportunity to lead into Chiu with a massive bet of 115,000. Chiu took no action for about sixty seconds before surrendering his hand to the dealer.

Demes Rapidly Rebuilding

On the turn of a nine-high board, {2-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {3-Hearts} {7-Clubs}, Preetinder Bhayana checked to Brandon Demes. Demes' stack has been a bit up and a bit down today, but that hasn't stopped Demes' aggression. He bet 65,000. Bhayana called.

Both players checked the {Q-Clubs} river. Bhayana turned over {5-Hearts} {5-Spades} but it was no good again Demes' {J-Clubs} {9-Clubs}. "Do you call if I bet the river?" Demes asked. Bhayana said nothing.

Demes: 630,000
Bhayana: 550,000
