Chip Leader Andrew Hinrichsen

After six short, but action-packed levels of tournament poker, Day 1a of the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Cebu Main Event has come to a close!

Kicking off just after midday, tournament veterans and amateurs from around the world and right here in the Philippines made up the 75-player field. Recent Macau Cup runner-up Kelly Flynn, local favorite Neil Arce, and Macau cash game regular David Ewing were just a few of those amongst the casualties along with Australians Jesse McKenzie, Ryan Mckay and Tim English.

However with the last hand of the day being dealt just a few minutes ago, it is Andrew Hinrichsen sitting atop the remaining 37 players with a very healthy chip stack of 124,900. Snapping closely on his heels is Kevin Park (90,000), Jukka Juvonen (85,425), James Honeybone (73,850) and Mitchell Carle (71,725).

APPT Auckland runner-up Tom Grigg (65,525) is still in the hunt along with APPT Macau Champion Victorino Torres (39,850), while females Sunshine Samson (45,650) and Jackie Glazier (37,200) will help brighten up the room come Day 2 on Sunday.

The PokerNews Live Reporting team will be back on the floor tomorrow from 12:15 pm PHT providing all the live coverage as a bumper 200-player field is expected to contest Day 1b.
