Sun is Getting Some Back

Level 16 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Sheng Sun three-bet shoved into an open raise of Thomas Ward and enforced a fold. Shortly after he was the aggressor and had Kim Wittendorff pay off a value bet on the river of a {7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{6-Hearts} board to scoop the pot with his {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. The Dane wasn't too happy about how the hand itself went.

Wittendorff Doubles Through Davies

Level 16 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Scott Davies three-bet shoved out of the blinds and initial raiser Kim Wittendorff made the call for 248,000 with {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. It was a shock to pretty much everyone that Davies actually lost a showdown. Then again it was no flip, as the American held the {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and the board ran out {5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

Meng Dian Peng open-shoved for his last 89,000 from the cutoff and Jack Hu quickly called from one seat over to get everyone else out of the way. Peng was again dominated with a weaker kicker, holding the {A-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, while Hu tabled {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. The board ran out {9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and that was it for the Chinese in 7th place. He takes home HK$221,600 for his efforts.

Thomas Ward Eliminated in 6th Place (HK$258,500)

Level 16 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

In a battle of the two remaining short stacks, Thomas Ward moved all in for around 100,000 chips from the button and Jung Jung Tang did so as well from one seat over in the small blind with slightly more chips.

Ward: {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Tang: {Q-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

The {8-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop left Ward drawing very slim and it was all over after the {A-Diamonds} on the turn. The {2-Diamonds} river was just a formality and the field is now down to six while Ward headed off to the cashier in order to collect HK$258,500 for his efforts.

Hu and Wittendorff Have to Talk

Level 17 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Kim Wittendorff four-bet shoved for another 381,000 on top of a squeeze by Jack Hu and the latter was having quite a decision to make after clicking it up to 101,000. He ultimately folded after suspecting pocket sevens and was shown the {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}. The hand lasted a few minutes into the new level already and they stood up and talked about it more when the next hand went on without their active participation.

Davies Stays Active

Level 17 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Scott Davies defended his small blind against a raise of Sheng Sun and the value-bet worth 75,000 on the {6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Hearts} was paid off by the start-of-the-day chip leader, who then mucked when the American showed him {10-Hearts}{8-Spades} for a straight.

Davies also raised onto the big blind of Kim Wittendorff and the Dane check-called a continuation bet worth 28,000 on the {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop. On the {A-Clubs} turn, Wittendorff check-called 60,000 and Davies gave up the {10-Hearts} river and checked behind.

"I would have called anyways," the Dane said after flipping over {A-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for top pair.

Hu With Trips

Level 17 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Sheng Sun raised preflop from the button for an unknown amount and was called by both Kim Wittendorff and Jack Hu out of the blinds. On the {A-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop, both called a continuation bet by Sun for 35,000 and the {A-Spades} turn was checked through. On the {3-Hearts} river, Hu led for 93,000 and was called by both opponents.

Hu turned over his {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Sun said to have mucked pocket kings whereas Wittendorff "had the wrong read" and even showed his {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}.

Tang Shoves Into Hu

Level 17 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Jack Hu has been stealing a few more pots preflop with standard raises and then opened to 37,000 from the button. Jung Jung Tang called out of the big blind and check-called a continuation bet on the {2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop for 33,000. On the {5-Hearts} turn, Tang moved all in and Hu mucked his cards as quickly with a grin on the face and the words "nice hand."
