Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
No More Smiles for Xuan Liu
No More Smiles for Xuan Liu

Xuan Liu is no more. Don't worry, she's fine, just not in the ACOP anymore.

Mingjie Sun opened to 1,800 from early position before Tony Cheng three-bet to 5,000 from mid position. Lui was in the big blind and four-bet shoved for 19,000 with ace-king. She managed to get through Sun but not Cheng who had aces, called, and held.

News in Brief

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
  • Ryan Yum made a successful preflop squeeze on two European opponents. Dario Sammartino had opened to 1,800 from early position and Tom Alner called on the button before Yum made it 7,100 to go from the small blind. Both opponents folded.
  • Martin Adeniya was another player trying a squeeze play. His move was successful, he just had to bet a flop to win the pot, is all. Tony Cheng opened to 1,600 and was called by Zhenru Xie in the next before Adeniya reraised to 4,800. Xie was the only caller but he folded to a 3,600 bet on a {7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop.
  • Connor Drinan had gotten to the river in a hand versus Soonil Kweon. The board read {3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Drinan led out for 5,600 from the big blind. Kweon tank called from the button and mucked upon seeing the American's {k-Hearts}{5-Spades} for trips.

Former WSOP Main Event champion Joe Hachem has been eliminated.

Manny Stravropolous informed PokerNews that he got his last 20,000 in on {7-}{3-}{2-} flop and was called by Wai Leong Chan who had top pair with king-seven. The board ran out {a-}{k-} to make Chan two pair and an unlucky Hachem was sent to the rail.

Cheng Gonna' Come

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Matthew Wakemen finished Day 1b among the chipleaders and still has a health stack. Yat Wei Cheng, got rolling on Day 1a after taking a large pot of Stephen Chidwick, is now trying to get some of Wakemen's chips as well.

The two players were heads up and looking at a flop of {10-Spades}{5-Clubs}{a-Hearts} and Cheng bet 5,000. Wakemen studied his opponent and eventually threw in a call. The turn was the {8-Hearts} and Cheng seemed ready to be done with the hand, throwing in a bet of 16,500. Wakemen didn't take too long to fold and give Cheng the pot.

Kweon Delivers a Hard Check

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Soonil Kweon checked loudly in frustration to close the action on a heads up pot with Connor Drinan.

The two players were across from one another, looking at the {8-Hearts}{j-Spades}{j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} board. Kweon bet 3,700 and, after some deliberation, Drinan called. The river was the {6-Clubs} and Drinan checked to Kweon again.

Kweon seemed to be weighing his options and eventually looked up to the ceiling and used a single chip to check loudly in frustration. Kweon mucked his hand after Drinan turned over pocket queens {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}.
