Ward Gets Kings Again

Level 25 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Thomas Ward has won several big pots this tournament and it seems that he is holding pocket kings every time. On this hand, he got all in for his tournament life against Zhou Zhou.

Zhou raised to 60,000 preflop and Ward reraised to 155,000 on the button. Zhou then took a moment before he four-bet to 300,000. Ward hesitated only a little before he decided to shove all in. Zhou snap called and showed {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} for the second time at the final table. The first time he had aces he doubled up off 9th place finisher Guoliang Wei, leaving him with barely two blinds.

Ward had what could be his favorite hand of the tournament, {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and was at risk. The board ran out {k-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Ward flopped a set and stayed ahead to double up.

Guoliang Wei Eliminated in 9th Place (HK$603,000)

Level 25 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Xixiang Luo - Ninth
Xixiang Luo - Ninth

Guoliang Wei busted the very next hand but on the turn thought he we was good for a pot win. The river ruined his day though.

Xixiang Luo opened to 50,000 before Wei moved all in for 2,000 more. Sergey Lebedev called from the small blind and Luo called the extra too. The board came {7-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Lebedev waited until the river before he bet 50,000. Luo raised to 170,000 and Lebedev folded showing the {j-Hearts} for a straight.

Wei also had a straight with {j-Clubs}{10-Hearts} (nuts on the turn) but Luo rivered the better straight with {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}.

"I very lucky!" said Luo.

Zhou Zhou, raised to 50,000 preflop and the action folded to Guoliang Wei. Wei asked to see Zhou's remaining chips and saw he had close to 500,000 behind. Wei reraised to 131,000 and it didn't take Zhou too long to shove all in. Wei called.

Zhou had {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} and Wei had {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. The board ran out {2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, giving Zhou the double up and leaving Wei with only a little more than 2 big blinds.

Ward Shoves On Luo Again

Level 24 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Thomas Ward
Thomas Ward

Xixiang Luo rasied to 50,000 and Thomas Ward was the lone caller from the big blind. The flop came {9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and Ward checked. Luo bet 60,000 and Ward raised all in for 625,000.

This is the second time Ward has shoved the flop on Luo. This time Luo looked visibly frustrated, almost in pain. He took off his glasses and assumed a prayer-like pose, not unlike the standard pose of Phil Hellmuth. Eventually, Luo flicked his cards away and folded, giving Ward the pot.

This time Connor Drinan was convinced Ward had a flush draw, but didn't offer any money to be proven wrong.

Qi Luo Snap Calls With Boat

Level 24 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Qi Luo
Qi Luo

Qi Luo now (unofficially) holds the record for the quickest call all in in the history of poker.

He opened to 50,000 from under the gun and Xixiang Luo called in the next seat before Sergey Lebedev squeezed to 150,000 off the button. The flop came {2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Clubs} and the action checked to Lebedev who continued for 150,000. Qi Luo was the only caller to the {4-Clubs} turn where he checked again.

Lebedev took a moment before announcing that he was all in. Luo was waiting like a coiled spring to hear those words and snap called and slammed {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} down on the table for top full house. Lebedev opened {k-Clubs}{k-Spades} and the {q-Diamonds} river failed to come to his rescue.

Tu Gets More, This Time From Ward

Level 24 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Thomas Ward opened to 45,000 and Nan Tu was the lone caller. The flop came {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Spades} and Ward bet 55,000, Tu called. The turn was the {9-Hearts} and both players checked. The river was the {a-Hearts} and Ward checked again to Tu. This time Tu bet 95,000 and Ward reluctantly called after about a minute.

Tu turned over {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and Ward mucked his hand.
