Chandihok Out; Kitajima Huge

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Mital Chandihok
Mital Chandihok

Hayato Kitajima raised it up and Mitan Chandihok defended his big blind. The flop came {j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Spades} and after a Chandihok check, Kitajima made it 55,000.

Chandihok check-raised to 127,000 and Kitajima called. The turn brought the scary {a-Hearts} and another check from Chandihok. Kitajima led for 79,000 and Chandihok check-raised again, this time going all in for 452,000 total, having Kitajima barely covered.

Kitajima called with {a-Spades}{k-Spades} and Chandihok was on a naked bluff, holding {k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. After the {8-Hearts} river a 1,200,000-chip pot was shipped to Kitajima and Chandihok was left super short.

They redrew for seats in the final 18 and Chandihok got it in a hand later for less than a min-raise, facing a Terry Fan open. Iona Finkenrath also called and they checked down an {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{q-Hearts} board to the river. Fan bet, Finkenrath folded and Tan's {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds} was good enough to send Chandihok and his {k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} to the rail.

Tian Runs Out of Chips

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Hao Tian
Hao Tian

Ying Chua limped and then faced the all in of Hao Tian for 154,000. Xiao Tian Yang moved all in himself from one seat over and the action folded around to Chua. "Count, count," he asked and took his time to make a decision.

"Sorry. Give me some more time," the Malaysian then apologized and folded, saying he had ace-queen. He had the cards high enough for us to confirm it: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}.

Tian: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Yang: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {9-Spades}{K-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and the battle of the Chinese went to Yang. There are 18 players left, which now get combined to two tables.

Dementev's Eights No Good

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Andrei Dementev
Andrei Dementev

Seung Soo Jeon opened from early position and the Korean had been quite active early on while today's action had been careful thus far. Andrei Dementev then three-bet shoved for what looked like 350,000 in the cutoff and was snap-called to set up the following showdown:

Jeon: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Dementev: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

The board ran out {2-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{3-Spades} and the Russian has been eliminated in 20th place. One further exit will unite the remaining field on the last two tables.

Leonarez Shows Flush

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Jessie Leonarez opened to 45,000 from under the gun and Douglas Olsson flat-called from the button to see a flop of {9-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. The Swede called a continuation bet worth 55,000 before both players checked the {5-Diamonds} turn.

On the {6-Clubs} river, Leonarez check-raised from 80,000 to 180,000 and the Swede mucked his cards with a smile. The Filipino did flash the {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a huge draw that got there.

Finding the Right Gear

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Aaron Lim had taken an early hit to the stack and tries the utmost as of lately to get back up. He got through with a small three-bet against Ying Chua and then tried the same versus Seung Soo Jeon. However, the Korean four-bet from the button to 110,000 and that received a reluctant fold.

The only remaining former APPT champion is below average, but up slightly in the last half an hour.

Kitajima's Tens Take It Down

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The entire hand took roughly eight minutes, as both Winfred Yu and Hayato Kitajima took a lot of time to act on the flop and turn before the river was checked through quickly.

Yu opened from the button to 35,000 and Kitajima three-bet to 81,000, which was eventually called. On the {K-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Spades} flop, the Japanese check-called a bet of 65,000 before the {3-Spades} turn and {4-Clubs} river saw no betting action.

Kitajima showed the {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and that won the pot.

Gonzaga Gonzo!

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Terry Gonzaga
Terry Gonzaga

An extremely short stacked Terry Gonzaga shipped it in from early position and Fubo Fu Bang Huang made the call.

It was Gonzaga's {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds} needing help against Huang's {k-Spades}{10-Spades} and getting none on the {a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{9-Spades} board.

With Gonzaga gone there are now 20 players remaining.

Yu a Millionaire

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Winfred Yu's raise was called by both Romit Advani and Thomas Lee. There wasn't much action on the a ten-high flop nor {A-Spades} turn, as three spades were on the board and the blank river got checked through, too. Advani's {2-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Lee's {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} fell short of Yu's {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and that made the high roller expert a chip-millionaire.

Shirasawa Doubles; Leaves Gonzaga Very Short

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

From under the gun, Terry Gonzaga moved all in and the action folded around to Kazuhiro Shirasawa on the button. He committed his last 88,000 chips and the players in the blinds both mucked.

Gonzaga: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Shirasawa: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}

The board ran out in favor of the Japanese, reading {4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, and Gonzaga then folded his big blind to a raise by Fubo Fu Bang Huang and the 80,000-three-bet of Douglas Olsson. Huang called and they checked down the {10-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} board, the Swede took it down with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}.
