Lim Takes One Off McCarty

From the hijack seat, James McCarty raised to 8,500, and Aaron Lim called on the button. Everyone else folded, and the flop came down {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. McCarty bet 17,500, and Lim made the call.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} to pair the board. McCarty checked with a little under 70,000 behind, and Lim bet 25,500. McCarty folded, and Lim won the pot.

Lui Gone In 24th; Bubble Time

Michael Kanaan had opened with a raise, Patrick Lui reraised, then Kanaan moved all in. Lui made the call and put himself at risk with the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} as he was the shorter stack between the two players. Kanaan held the {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and was behind, but very live in the hand.

The flop was huge for Kanaan when the {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} fell to give him a full house. As if he couldn't improve anymore from there, Kanaan went on to make quads on the turn when the {10-Spades} landed and officially leave Lui drawing dead. The river completed the board with the {Q-Hearts}.

Lui was eliminated in 24th place, and the tournament is now on the official bubble with just 23 competitors remaining. The top 22 spots will be paid out, and the next player eliminated will unfortunately go home empty handed.

Alner Doubles On Bubble

On the bubble with 23 players left, Tom Alner moved all in for 80,500 after Raiden Kan opened to 9,000. Kan was in middle position, and Alner was in the cutoff seat.

After a minute or two of tanking, Kan slammed the chips in to make the call and put Alner at risk. He held the {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}, but that was dominated by Alner's {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.

The flop, turn and river ran out {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, and Alner doubled up.

Schedule Update

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

If the money bubble breaks, play will end for the night, but if that doesn't happen, play will stop at the end of the current level. Due to hand-for-hand play slowing things down a little bit, the tournament officials have announced that 15 minutes will be tacked onto the end of the level in the case that the bubble hasn't broken yet.

Tran Dodges The Flush

Linh Tran was down to just 22,500 when he moved all in from the small blind. Aaron Lim called almost immediately and took a shot at bursting the bubble. When the hands at the other tables were completed we witnessed the following showdown.

Linh Tran: {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Aaron Lim: {Q-Spades}{3-Spades}

The board ran out {10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and Tran survived this crucial all in. Everyone was rooting for a spade to appear, but the bubble did not burst.

Overtime!

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

There were just five minutes remaining in the level, but tournament director Danny McDonagh just announced there would be added time. Hand of hand play has been going on for the last 40 minutes and that has chewed up quite some time off the tournament clock. An additional 15 minutes will be played before the day is done, regardless if the bubble bursts.

McCarty Doubles On the Bubble

From the cutoff seat, James McCarty raised all in for 48,500. Aaron Lim requested a count from the small blind, thought for a minute, then called. Everyone else got out of the way, and it was McCarty's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} at risk against the {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for Lim.

The board ran out {K-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, and despite a heart sweat on the turn, McCarty doubled through.
