10-Minute Break

The tournament clock has been paused while the players take their last 10-minute break of the evening. When they return, they'll play two more levels of poker before the night's end.

Billy "The Croc" Argyros Eliminated

Billy "The Croc" Argyros Eliminated
In a classic race, Billy "The Croc" Argyros pushed his short stack pre-flop with pocket tens and was called by the {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} of Bruno Portaro.

With two players declaring that they folded aces, Bruno's outs deminished but a king in the window and a board of {K-Hearts}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} sealed the fate of "The Croc."

Benson Unsuccessfully Races For Chip Lead

Benson raises to 3,600 pre-flop and is met by a re-raise to 11,600 by Quentin Lae. Benson deliberates before announcing that he is all in, creating a buzz amongst the large gallery railing his prime position table. Lae makes the call and we are racing as the two players show:

Benson: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}
Lae: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}

The board doesn't provide any assistance for Benson and he slides to 80,000 in chips as Lae is propelled to 100,000 chips.

Jim Sachinidis' Dominating Double Up

Jim Sachinidis
Jim Sachinidis
In a multi-way raised pot, Jim Sachinidis came over the top of his opponent's bet on a board showing {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{7-Hearts} with a raise for all of his chips. A third player folds as the original raiser makes the call with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. Sachinidis tables {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} and is in great shape. A {4-Spades} on the turn, followed by the {3-Hearts} on the river, and Sachinidis is now up to 70,000 in chips.

An interesting discussion developed following this hand as the third player claimed to have folded {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} to the action on the flop, much to the disbelief of the table!

Ray Whittle Defends With Vigour

Frustrated by the constant raising of the player in the cutoff position, Ray Whittle decides to defend his blind by pushing all of his chips in pre-flop holding {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}. The player in the cutoff made the call but was dominated with {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. The board of {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{4-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} gives Whittle the double up and he pounds his fist on the table in delight - "Yes! Yes! You raise my blind every time!" Whittle is now up to 45,000 in chips.

Emad Tahtouh Takes Down a Big Pot

Emad Tahtouh
Emad Tahtouh
The pre-flop action saw Emad Tahtouh raise to 2,000 and Darren Rispin pop it up to 6,000. Tahtouh then re-raises to 15,000 and Rispin calls to see a flop.

The flop is {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Rispin fires out 10,000 into the healthy pot. Tahtouh raises for all of his remaining 25,000 chips and Rispin goes into the tank. With a call of 15,000 and a pot of around 70,000, Rispin makes the decision to lay down the hand and Tahtouh all but doubles up without even a showdown.
