Derek Lerner Eliminated

An early position player limps pre-flop and Derek Lerner shoves all of his 7,000 chips into the pot. The limper calls with {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}, Lerner shows {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and we're off to the races! The flop of {K-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts} was not what Lerner was looking for. The turn and river blanked and although Lerner was eliminated from the tournament he wins the last longer bet with his brother.

Goldberg Takes a Bite Out of The Croc

In pre-flop action a early position player makes a raise to 2,400 and Billy "The Croc" Argyros pops it up to 6,400. Glen Goldberg then pushes his 60,000 chip stack over the top to put his opponents to a big decision. The inital raiser folds, and Crocky goes into the tank for what seems like an enternity before eventually laying down his hand. Crocky is now left with only 17,000 in chips.

Aaron Lerner Eliminated

On a flop of {3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades} Aaron Lerner pushed his chips into the middle with {6-Clubs}{9-Spades} for an open-ended straight draw. Unfortunately for him his opponent held {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and made the call. The turn and river blanked and Aaron Lerner was eliminated.

Lucky Sticky

Michael "Sticky" Guttman
Michael "Sticky" Guttman
Michael "Sticky" Guttman has just survived a big all in confrontation. Holding pocket nines, Guttman pushed his last chips into the middle on the board of {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} against Lily Bui. Bui held pocket kings and made a difficult, but correct call. However the {9-Clubs} on the river gives "Sticky" a set and a 50,000 pot, leaving Bui crippled.

Gary Benson Takes Down Another

Gary Benson raises it up pre-flop to 1,800 and his opponent re-pops it to 5,400. Benson then re-raises to 12,000 and gets a call.

The flop brings {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs} and Benson bets out 15,000 into the already healthy pot. His opponent thinks for a few moments and decides to commit his remaining 40,000 chips into the pot. Benson insta-calls and the biggest pot of the tournament is up for grabs:

Benson: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Opponent: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}

The turn of {5-Hearts} and river of {6-Diamonds} leaves Benson with a mountain of chips and a huge lead over today's field.

Sam Korman Eliminated

Australian player Sam Korman limped from under the gun with {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and saw a flop with the player in the big blind.

The flop of {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} gave Korman the nut flush draw and he bet out 1,500. His opponent raised to 4,200 and Korman pushed all in for his remaining 20,000 chips. His opponent quickly made the call with {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. Both players were drawing but Korman had the lead and the superior flush draw.

Unfortunately for Korman the turn brought the {7-Clubs} and the river {9-Diamonds} and a pair of sevens was enough to end the day for Sam Korman.

Kicker Troubles

When Gary Benson raised on the flop of {A-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs}, his opponent had the feeling that his weak ace was well beaten, flashing the {A-Hearts} before folding. Benson smiles and shows one card - the {A-Clubs} saying "I had a bigger kicker" before opening his second card - the {A-Spades}!

Benson is rapidly moving through the field and is now one of our tournament chip leaders.
