Joo Gets Away Cheaply

Ree Guh Joo limped in from early position, then called a raise to 1,200. He and his opponent took the {8-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} flop heads up. Joo checked it over to the preflop raiser, who bet 1,500. Joo made the call. His opponent got gun shy when a {K-Clubs} hit the turn; he checked behind after Joo checked. It was "second verse, same as the first" on the river {10-Spades}. Joo showed {7-Clubs} {8-Spades} for a pair of eights, but it was no good against his opponent's {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs}.

Joo lost 2,700 chips on the hand, dropping him to 15,400.
