Battle of the Blinds Goes to Schmejkal

Moritz Schmejkal, a player who qualified for the APT Macau Main Event via online poker site PartyPoker, has doubled up in the first ten minutes of play. When action folded to Schmejkal in the small blind, he opened for 4,000. Koen de Bakker, one of the larger stacks coming into play today with about 76,000 in chips, peeked at his cards and shoved all in. It's didn't take Schmejkal long to call all in for a total of 23,300, and he was correct to do so.

Schmejkal: {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}
De Bakker: {K-Spades} {10-Spades}

De Bakker rapped the table, saying "good call," before the flop came down. The board ran out {4-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {2-Hearts}. Neither player connected, which allowed Schmejkal to take the pot with ace high. Schmejkal now has about 48,000, while de Bakker has dropped to about 50,000.
