Chip Leader Takes a Hit

Noja has just shipped a whole pile of chips in the direction of Andrew Demetriou, after doubling him up.

Demetriou got it in with the worst of it, tabling {2-Clubs}{k-Hearts} after he was called shoving preflop by Noja with {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Noja wouldn't lead the hand for long though, the {k-Spades} spiking a {k-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop. Just for a bit of overkill the board filled out turn {2-Spades}, river {2-Clubs} to give Demetriou a boat and double his team up.

Demetriou and Vandersluis have 125,000. Noja and Alexander still lead with 160,000.

Portaro & Mountt Eliminated in 5th Place (AU$7,000)

Danny Mountt - 5th place
Danny Mountt - 5th place
Danny Mountt has been eliminated by Daniel Noja. Mountt {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} shoved preflop and got a call from the chip-leader Noja holding {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

The flop of {8-Clubs}{10-Spades}{k-Diamonds} would be enough to see Mountt gathering his stuff together, the turn {9-Diamonds} and river {q-Hearts} sealing the deal and sending Danny Mountt and Bruno Portaro on their way.

Noja and Alexander have nearly half the chips in play at 225,000.

Sukkar & Srour Eliminated in 6th Place (AU$5,000)

Ray Sukkar - 6th place
Ray Sukkar - 6th place
Sukkar and Srour have been eliminated in place by Peter Aristidou. With the blinds now quite high in comparison to stacks, Srour pushed all in and this was followed by a reshove by Peter Aristidou. Everyone else folded and the players tabled their cards.

Aristidou {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Srour {9-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Srour was going to have to get very lucky to stay alive and he didn't, the board running out {4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} to send him and Ray Sukkar to the rail for a cash of AU$5,000. Aristidou and De Cesare move up to 95,000 in chips.

Check Down Cripples Portaro/Mountt

Sometimes trying to trap someone can land you in the viper pit. Danny Mountt just found out the hard way.

Flopping two pair with {2-Clubs}{4-Clubs} on a {4-Spades}{q-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop, Mount checked the flop and turn {10-Clubs} to Andrew Demetriou who graciously checked behind.

The river {a-Clubs} brought a wee few fireworks with it. Mountt finally bet out after sandbagging two streets, and Demetriou made the call, tabling {3-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for a rivered straight.

Demtriou and Vandersluis are back up to 45,000. Mountt and Portaro are now on just 22,000.

Karmer/Solomon Bubble

Jarred Solomon out
Jarred Solomon out
The team consisting of Karmer and Solomon have unfortunately bubbled. Jarred Solomon open shoved all in for 32,000 preflop, action folded to Peter Aristidou who made the call and then folded to Richard Alexander who re-shoved for about 110,000. Aristidou's tournament life would be on the line if he made the call, so he decided to fold and let Alexander take on the all in player heads up.

Solomon {k-Spades}{q-Spades}
Alexander {K-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

With the board running out {q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{9-Spades}{10-Clubs}{5-Clubs} Karmer and Solomon hit the rail, and everyone else is guaranteed at least AU$5,000.

String Bet Still Pays

Action folded around to Peter Aristidou in the small blind, he completed and action moved to Daniel Noja in the big blind. He contemplated a raise, and in doing so put out a 10,000 stack and cut it in front of him in the action of a bet. He then announced that he wanted to bet 12,000, but the dealer ruled that the bet would only be 10,000 as that was his first action. Aristidou made the call of 10,000, and the players went to the flop.

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and both players checked to the turn {8-Clubs}, again both players checked. The river {j-Spades} saw the players complete the checkdown and they went to the showdown.

Noja {A-Spades}{10-Spades}
Aristidou Muck

Noja and Alexander move up to 110,000. Aristidou/De Cesare drop to 71,000.

Team Bouyioukos Doubles

Nick Bouyioukos
Nick Bouyioukos
The Bouyioukos pair have doubled through Solomon and Karmer. Solomon opened preflop to 15,000, with Effie Bouyioukos coming over the top all in for about 7,000 more. Solomon made the call and tabled {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and was always going to be in trouble against Bouyioukos' {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

The board ran out {K-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades} giving the Bouyioukos team a much needed double up. They move up to 46,000. While Solomon and Karmer drop to 31,000.

The Dreaded Bubble

No one wants to bubble. A lot of the play at the moment is an opening raise that takes down the blinds preflop. As soon as the next piece of notable action takes place we'll let you know.

Sproule/MacNaughton Eliminated

Pam MacNaughton eliminated
Pam MacNaughton eliminated
The Sproule/MacNaughton team have been eliminated. Action folded preflop around to Sproule in the small blind who moved in for 26,500. Almost before he had got his chips into the pot, Karmer in the big blind announced, "Okay, I call."

Sproule was sick when Karmer flipped {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} to be well ahead of his own {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

The board was no help to Sproule running out {3-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs} to send him and Pam MacNaughton to the rail.
